Is this a "bottleneck"?
Intel Core i5 6402P (the one I already have)
Nvidia RTX 2070 Super (the upgrade)

Is this an effective cpu+gpu combo? Because getting the 2070 S for only 500$ is pretty tempting for me. And I do need that faster graphics card for 4K.

And as an extra question, can I still use my 1050ti which I already have had with the new card, or does it not work like that?

Full system specs:
MSI H110M PRO-VH Motherboard (MS-7996) (U3E1)
Intel Core i5 6402P @ 2.80GHz (Skylake/14nm)
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown RAM @ 1063MHz (16-16-16-39)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (the current one)
The monitor (that I have): DELL U2718Q (3840x2160@60Hz)

The 6420P should be fine until you upgrade the CPU to something better.
4K is best with at least a 2080, you'll have to drop a lot of settings for the 2070-Super.

I would just keep the 1050 Ti for another build or sell it, there's no way to use it with the 2070-Super to improve its performance because the 1050 Ti doesn't support SLI, SLI has to be used with a near identical card (i.e. another 2070-Super), and the 2070-Super doesn't use the standard SLI connection because all RTX cards now use NVLink instead.
There's no real reason to even keep the 1050 Ti in the same system as a 2070-Super, so find another use for it or just sell it to make a little bit of money back that could be used to upgrade your CPU later.

Lastly, what are your full system specs, especially your motherboard and RAM?

for 4k gaming you want the best gpu available

the cpu is fine for 60fps in most games, but for 4k, its 4x the gpu load vs 1080p

That CPU will struggle in some games no matter what GPU you put next to it.

Get that 2070 Super, you can always upgrade the CPU later if it's performance is lacking.

2070S might struggle at 4K depending on what games you play.

Oh really? Because I was lead into the idea that having a bottleneck like this would make the gpu's performance worse (essentially like rubberbanding but for computers).

But okay, I'll get the 2070S and then I'll decide based on the performance, since I am upgrading from the 1050ti, which is a very poor card to have in 2020.

Just so you know, I already have a 4K monitor, it's just that my old 1050ti that I have was good on the 1080p screen I had before, but the new one I have (not really new for one I bought a year ago) has made it kinda obsolete for me.

Actually, it's around x2-x2.5 load vs 1080p. If colouring the pixels was the only job GPU has to do, we'll be already playing games at insane resolutions.

To OP: resolution won't change CPU performance, so if you're happy with your framerates with the CPU you currently have - you'll be exactly as happy after getting new graphics card and going higher resolutions.

Steam forums are not the best place for a definitive answer, but go ahead listen to ppl saying it is not a bottleneck.. :steambored:

Quote a post where someone said it isn't a bottleneck.

And how do you know if it bottlenecks or not without knowing the game and the graphical settings?
Oh, right, you don't know what bottleneck is, hence you just check "bottleneck calculator" website that just gives you random numbers, and then you assume you know something.

there is always a bottleneck
cpu, gpu, game engine, vsync are most common

2070 super ain’t a bad gpu and can do 4K but obviously all depending on what game u will be playing! Some games slaughter hardware harder than others!

As for your second question yes u can use ur 1050 for physix but don’t expect much as it will have a very hard time for 4K

I recommend when u upgrade just try difrent graphical settings and see what works best for u!

Why don’t u look at a 1080ti rather than the 2070? Or u want it for ray tracing?

Even a 2080 Ti has a hard time raytracing at 4K, so I highly doubt it.

What is a game you are planning to play on a new GPU?

PhysX is not used a lot lately.

I originally posted this in the off-topic section, moved it here, and now you want me to move it to a pc forum that probably has a community 10x smaller than this?
