Why cant i run 144hz
my monitor is a viotek monitor. it does have 144hz capabilities. I have a laptop that is 60hz that my monitor is hooked up to. The cable i use is HDMI 2.0 and could even handle 240hz. for reference i have windows 10 and Intel(R) UHD graphics 605. btw brought to attention by escorve, i did that and did not see a 144hz option. just for reference.

monitor:

VIOTEK GFV22CB Ultra-Compact 22-Inch 144Hz Gaming Monitor | 1080P Full-HD 5ms | G-Sync-Compatible FreeSync FPS/RTS | 2X HDMI 3.5mm DP | Zero-Tolerance Dead Pixel Policy (VESA)
link for reference: {LINK USUNIĘTY}

laptop specs:

CPU: Pentium Silver (i know it's bad but i just want to know why 144hz does not appear)
GPU: Intel(R) UHD graphics 605
OS: Windows 10 Home version 1909
Brand: HP
note: i have confirmed my port is HDMI 1.4

Most likely either the monitor or the laptop has a HDMI 1.4 port. Make sure everything is HDMI 2.0 capable. I am assuming the monitor is 1440p here.

What is the make and model of the laptop and monitor?

Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings > Display adapter settings for Display x > Monitor (Tab) > here you can adjust the refresh rate.

Also no idea why you would buy a 144 Hz monitor when you're using Intel iGPU, I would've waited. 75 Hz would've made more sense for an Intel iGPU.

Your monitor only supports 120hz at 1080p. Even your notebook is the same.

Using amazon to seee some specs I read

"Ports: 1x DP 1.2 (cable included), 2x HDMI"

Doesn't mention HDMI version but often monitors with DP ports can only support 144z via DP and not the Hdmi.

Putting 144hz in the questions section The top 4 answers are

1.Q: Is the only supported refresh rate 144, or are there other supported rates?
A: 60-144
By LON B. on November 22, 2019

2. Q: What kind of cable is needed to use 144 HZ?
A: Displayport. The monitor comes with one.

3.Q: If i have hdmi only 2.0 can i get 144 hz via hdmi with this monitor?
A: No you cannot only the display port will produce 144fps or 144hertz for that matter

4.Q: Dose it include a cable and if so can the cable support 1440p at 144 fps/hz?
A: It comes with a DisplayPort cable that will support both.

The first doesn't mean anything but 2,3 and 4 all say it requires being connected by DP, cable included, to support 144hz. So it doesn't matter what Hdmi cable you have or Hdmi on the laptop as the monitor only supports DP.

Even if the laptop supports 144hz over it's Hdmi port you'd need to find an adapter or cable that can convert from hdmi to Dp while keeping 144hz. They would be really expensive. And by that I mean you could buy a new monitor than what some of them cost. Provided you can find any in the first place.

Confirm if the Laptop can supply 144hhz over Hdmi and then return the monitor and exchange it for one that is capable of 144hz over Hdmi. If the laptop doesn't support 144h\ over hdmi teen there is nothing you can do anyway.

the laptop may not support 144hz or have dp
