BEST THERMAL PASTE ???
BEST THERMAL PASTE ???

Hi to all. :ss13ok::cybereye:

Going to be pulling my PC apart during the 1st week of 2020 & giving it a good clean.
Just wondering if anyone had any opinions/advice about the Best Thermal Paste?

Thanks in advance for & all answers. :ss13ok::cybereye:

EDIT 1: Also, just in case it matters, i'm using a Coolermaster V4 GTS CPU Air Cooler.

MX-4 and AS5 has always been solid for me.

Same here.
I've been using either Arctic MX-4 or, more recently, Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.

I haven't used AS5 in ages.
I switched to MX4 around 2011
Before that it was always Artic Silver 3, 5 whatever. Used those ever since Pentium 3 went from slot to socket.

Not that there was anything wrong with AS5, but I preferred the MX4 in a 20g syringe as it's very good bang for buck and allows what I need to do many cpus/gpus

Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut would be my suggestion.

Can't say how much it helped as I used it after delidding my cpu. Delid + that paste I'm around 15-20 degrees cooler.

EDIT: Link to some thermal paste tests

This so what I use. It's even a little better than Gelid GC Extreme although I was skeptical at first.
It's not the paste that makes that much difference it's the de-lid that does that. It's not worth de-lidding yourself, you'll brick your cpu. If you want one that way, buy from a pro who does it for a living and gives cpu warranty on it.
MX-4 is all it takes for a regular PC. There are crazy expensive solutions to be found on the market, but there's great diminishing returns past MX-4 level compounds, not worth considering them unless you're launching a satellite into space or something.
not worth considering them unless you're launching a satellite into space or something

Or want to act all cool by using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut

MX-4 /end

If you can get your hands on some Shin-Etsu X23-7868-2D or x23-7921-5. These are very good, maybe even better than Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. And they are dirt cheap.

Most consumer consumer thermal paste brands are buying from Shin-Etsu or Dow Corning, add a few ingredients or just repackaging. The price premium mostly goes into packaging and marketing.
Dow Corning TC-5688 is also very good.
I bought a big 10g tube of Noctua NTH1 for $10 for when my 1g tube of Kryonaught runs out. On CPUs idk that there's gonna be a huge difference in pastes, but Gelid GC Extreme took close to 11c off of my gtx 970 blower card I had stuffed in my old Alienware x51. Card was only about a month old when I replaced the paste so nothing was dirty. I was flat out shocked.
