That shouldn't screw it up, unless you then selected a file, and tried flashing it.

Remove the battery from the board and put it back in after a minute, that should reset the CMOS and possibly fix your issue. Since you didn't actually have a file to flash with the BIOS, nothing should have actually happened.
The only other way to reset CMOS on that motherboard is to short the CMOS jumper, which should be found in the board manual.

Unplug the psu power cable from either the wall or psu otherwise removing the battery won't do anything. After removing power plug, press and hold case power button for 10 secs

What didn't work?

After what I stated is when you then remove the battery. Leave it out for about 5 mins.

Honestly folks need to just get into the habit or shorting the reset cmos pins, that's the easiest way to do it.

Get the manual out look up how to short the pins with a screwdriver.

I just updated my asus mobo bios and it was a few buttons """edit should of said mouse clicks (anyway)""" more than one.

Updating bios is different and unless you're doing that via a certain board that has bios flashback, there's no buttons involved.

The reason I said to hold in case power button after unplugging the psu is to discharge the psu and motherboard of all left over power it may have. This is to ensure NO power is present when doing bios reset via battery removal or pin-shorting.

^^^^^^^^^^This.Absolutely no amount of electrical current should be present at any part of the board, case , buttons to minimize dangers.
