Stop browsing shady sites.
A touch presumptuous, perhaps? It's an injected pop-up. The only sites I have been visiting are legitimate sites to deal with the software I am updating.
Also, Malwarebytes, is limited in it's "free capacity", and as I already pay for one AV I am not likely to be spending out on another.

Make sure you have no mallicious extensions installed.
Purge everything related to Chrome using Ccleaner.
If the issue then continues reinstall Windows. If the issue then still continues purge the Google account and delete all local copies of it before logging in again.
Malwarebytes is one of the better anti malware kits. The free version can be used to remove malware from already infected machines, the paid version provides real time protection.
+1 makesomethird3 is one of them
Performance was hit after the recent win 10 updates.
Purging chrome and other google products is my next move. Then it's a change of all passwords and removing permissions from all things that can enter my google account. I am converting video (30p to 24p) so I can't do that just yet.
I thought that MWB was only free for a limited time. Bit like Reaper - you can have it free for 30 days but after that payment due to continue using it. I will try it again.
I used to use Spybot Seek and destroy but that's no longer free. (My avg is fully paid up btw, it's not that I am trying to be a software skank.)
Seriously, I have not visited that site. Again, I have only been dealing with sites that are legitimate and pursuant to the work I am trying to complete.
How many times do I need to state that? Again, I don't mean to be rude, but I literally only deal with the sites that I need to for music and video editing.
Done a scan with Malwarebytes and no PUPS, no detection of anything. Same as my scan with AVG.
Stealth edit - NO PUPS, NO PUMS! No threat detected.
Just did a check with that too. It has reported that "some of my preinstalled software" (Cyberlink powerDirector and Sony software) falls under PUP.optional.legacy. Neither were preinstalled and only added after I rebuilt this system.
I need the Sony Play Memories home for taking the videos off my camera, due to the codec that the camera records in. I can happily lose Powerdirector while I use Magix Vegas Pro.
Ironically, I recall exactly when this started to happen, Yesterday.
I was clicking through from Presonus.com to a VST instrument seller called Studio Linked. Its a VST synth that I was trying to get into my computer.
Okay, I hit the bios because of hyper threading. It was switched off once, due to the whole "H.T. Vulnerability" I remembered from a while back. But that was a while ago (at least 2 years in my mind) and my current hardware is 9th gen Intel. Believing that hyper threading was safe, I switched it on and enabled some bits in Windows. Anyway, I decided to switch it off, disabling VDT in the bios. Now my computer won't boot to windows. So, I thought "cut my losses and reinstall windows", thinking that it would be as simple as chucking the dvd in and resetting boot priority.
Long and short, it wouldn't install on my M2 system drive. Even after formatting and deleting partitions. Windows 10 will happily install to any of my library SATA drives, not the M2.
Now, I have a computer with no install, a blank m2, and library drives that cant be touched what with 500GB+ of videos I can't lose.
Yay!
I do have an Acronis back up from November. Full system image. So, all not lost. Just time and effort.
