NoobQuestion, is the ryzen 3600 compatible with my a320m grenade motherboard? .
I'm currently running a ryzen 1600 with it and I'm gonna upgrade to ryzen 3600 if it works with the motherboard.

Should be compatible with a bios update but Probably not the best idea.. the motherboards power delivery might not be up to the job so you might see some performance loss..

A320M can in theory run it, if there is a BIOS update that supports the Ryzen 3600.
But should you? It's not recommended to use such a cheap mainboard with a more demanding CPU like the 3600.

How much fps loss are you talking about?

What are the risks though?

Overheating VRMs, them burning out and maybe hardware damage besides the mainboard.

A320 is fine but i wouldnt put there anything higher than 3600 (non x). But first update the bios.

Not much if any.. I said might but don't know for sure. I would be more concerned with vrms overheating if they don't have good heatsinks

Here 3600 is getting better performance on A320 than X570.

Replace the motherboard a320 shouldn't be used for Ryzen, only Athlon

Can you just watch the video above? It has higher benchmark score on A320 and same fps in games as X570. Vrm temps are good and even lower power consumption than x570, i guess not every a320 is bad..
But yes, R5 3600 should be the maximum for such chipset.

I saw the video, so the a320m motherboard works fine with the ryzen 3600?

Yes it is

Honestly it will be fine. Buying new board it makes sense to go for something better, but if you alredy have one IMO no reason to do it.
r5-3600 is what, 65w? 65w cpu-s can run on cheap office boards with cheapest vrm possible without heatsink on it for years, even decades. Nothing to worry about.
Performance will not be affected either, at leat not enough to justify replacing board.
Just make sure the board actually has r5-3600 support / bios update available.

A-boards don't support overclocking anyway, so you'll be fine. As long as you get a bios that supports the cpu that is.

did you try your msi a320m grenade with ryzen 3600 now? i'm using the same board, thinking upgrade to 3600 too. But BIOS update show that is BETA version, is there any problem?
