Both SNES and SNES Mini controllers have proprietary Nintendo connectors, so I can't possibly imagine how you did connect that via USB. You're either connecting that controller via some sort of converter, or that controller is not SNES one, but some third-party controller.
Either way - tell us what exactly that thing is, and how are you connecting it to PC.

♥♥♥♥ my bad, i forgot to add the "switch" into the title.

Nintendo recently released a SNES replica controller for the nintendo switch with a battery and usb type c port + cable.

my bad,

new try:

I got the newer SNES nintendo switch controller and tried getting it to work on pc, but plugging it in via its provided usb cable, nothing happens at all, my pc wont even reconize a new device.

it works flawless on my nintendo switch, hence why i fell in love with it and wanted to try and play some more games with it on my pc

Ooooh, those ones. From all I know even Switch Pro controller doesn't work right away, but Steam is able to pick up the inputs, and lets you configure it as well. If I were you - I'd check if Switch Pro support in Steam Big Picture also works for Switch SNES controllers. If it doesn't - you might have to wait a bit until Steam adds support, or for some third-party app, or third-party drivers. The thing is still pretty new. Also try X360CE, that thing picks up pretty much any controller. And make sure the USB cable you're using is not charge only, but is also rated for transferring data. Thing's got USB Type C port, those are easy to find, chances are you already have one if you've got modern smartphone.

Yeah it got sent with a nintendo one, i tried different usb type c cables aswell but windows wont even make the USB notice sound.

my bad about missing the key "switch" in the title lol.

steam wont find the controller either, since windows doesnt even aknowledge it, i guess i would eiher need a windows update which adds support, or a third party driver which adds functionality so my pc reconizes what ive just plugged in.
already tried some programs but none work for me as of yet, and i cant even find people who are trying to use it on pc aswell lol

Since I don't have a Switch and can't test it myself - are you sure those controllers can work wired, like, at all? There is a chance they're meant to be used wireless only, so they could've not soldered pins required to transfer data to those controllers, at all. I haven't soldered any Type-C connectors, but those gotta be working pretty much like good old USB which had only 4 pins - one for voltage, one for ground, and two for data. From what I understand, all the difference between USB standards is extra pins for more data. You can technically make a Type-C port which will only have 5V and Ground and it will let you charge, but just that.
Also, just in case you didn't try connecting that controller to USB 3.0 - try it. If those extra data lanes are present - there's a chance it uses exactly those to work as a wired controller.

Yes it can work both wireless and wired on the switch! tested it on the back of my pc on the usb ports and on the front, both 2.0 and 3.0 didnt seem to trigger any recognition on my windows

I don't know how this works on Switch, but is there a way to totally disable all wireless connectivity, to make sure it indeed works wired, and not just charges wired while keeping working wireless?
Other than that - no idea, I guess it indeed is a software issue. If solutions won't come up in few months, but you would still want to play retro games on a PC with authentic controls - check 8Bitdo. Those guys are all about "works right away", and they have some incredible stuff like SNES-style controllers but with two analog sticks and two analog triggers, which makes it suitable for any modern game as well.

im super familliar with 8bitdo, thanks alot =) thats my temporary fix, but i enjoy the original nintendo button and dpad feel a little more though.

i own an SF30 Pro which are sadly discontinued due to nintendo knocking on their door and telling them they are too similar to the original, and an old n30 gen1, which im currently playing cuphead with on pc for example =)

just thought ill give it a shot over here after asking on the nintendo reddit lead to zero responses at all. guess il have to wait and keep digging deep to find any info

Yeah, well, that kind of stuff might require checking Japanese forums or something. Here people typically stick to Microsoft and Logitech controllers. Me - I absolutely love Dualshock 3, that's my main toy. DS4 does feel a bit better, but it has so many issues compared to DS3.

not gonna lie never was a big fan of controllers to begin with, always was a pure pc gamer, but this summer when i got the switch, the platformer and jump and run fever got me and i looked more into controllers, because my blue xbox one controller is just not right for this imho, so then i went and got 8bitdo controllers for my switch and found out while waiting for them to arrive that theyre multi plattform which was awsome ! and then the original switch SNES controller announcement got me excited and i went ahead and bought it instantly after it got released, 30 minutes later they were sold out ! :D

even if i didnt end up loving and using it alot i would still have been an awsome thing to place on my shelf alongside my other things i collected or used over the years =)

I haven't got a single console since Famicom clone, so I can call myself a pure PC gamer as well. I do, however, realise that keyboard and mouse are only suitable for FPS and RTS games, so I always had some kind of controller around, starting with some weird crap that only worked with Windows 95 and Windows 98, and up to DS3 and DS4 I have now. So many times I've seen people launching a game they didn't play for few weeks, and always the same crap - they start pressing each of a hundred buttons on their keyboards trying to figure out which button opens up some menu and ending throwing grenades under their feet or some stupid crap like that. With a controller that stuff rarely happens, and it takes amazingly less time to learn to play with a controller than with m/kb. Also - those guys playing MGSV, you seen them? They either move at minimum speed and can't keep up with a guard, or they move at maximum speed and they alert the guard, lol! And other similar stuff, like platformers, racing games, flight simulators, you have an idea.
XBOX controllers - yeah, those have DPAD not suitable for platformers. DS4 feels amazingly good for this tho, for some reason DS3 of mine has too big diagonal zones, but DS4 has big standard directions zones, so it works perfect with old games for me.
Here, where I live, back then no one had SNES, not a single person. More than that - we never heard of such thing. Mega Drive was way easier to clone and hack, and we got whatever gets hacked, so no SNES nostalgia in Ukraine. This 90's piracy thing wasn't all bad tho, as before 16-bit consoles we had what we shouldn't - when all the US and EU were playing NES, we had Famicom clones. This should've been Japanese-only thing, yet it wasn't - we had Japanese-looking consoles, controllers, cartridges etc. One problem tho - while most of those Famicom clones were running PAL, which makes no sense since it's close of ♥♥♥ console, most of the games we had were NTSC-J like in Japan. So, basically, all our games were running slower than they should've been. Should you turn on some old ass music from like Battle City or Mario on default speed - most of people who played games back then will say it's running too fast, lol!
8bitdo Pro 2 is darn near perfect.

yeah, ive been eyeballing it for a while, my buddy ordered one and hes happy with it. i just wish they had a SF version of it... but nintendo reminded them that their products were looking too similar
Did anyone ever get this working on steam? I just bought the controller, and steam recognizes it as a SNES Controller but i am unable to map anything to it
