Motherboard BIOS Not Functioning
I have an MSI h81m-p33 motherboard. USED off eBay and the thing won't accept a boot USB, when I try to change the boot priority in BIOS, the BIOS if screwed. As in the BIOS menu is stripped out, glitched and won't let me go into settings because the BIN file is incorrect. And I can't flash it since I'd need to be able to go into settings for that. Any ideas?

I didn't get it from MSI, it's long out of warranty and needs to be fixed soon.

contact MSI support .. i had the same issue a few yrs ago with an ASUS board .. i contacted asus support and had to pay shipping both ways and they charged me 44 bucks

the board was worth it , as its still in use today

i got my board as a refurb from a small retailer who also offered no warranty

Is the board able to boot at all? Plug in a HDD with WIndows installed on it and see what it does.

If it's able to boot you might be able to use the MSI LiveUpdate tool to flash the BIOS while inside the OS.

Does the board have an option to go straight in to MFLASH after posting?

If this all doesn't work, the board is dead. Unless you manage to find someone with an EPROM and/or a soldering iron.

It's possible that even if you manage to flash the BIOS the chip is just dead and it will still not work.

Thanks for that suggestion, but it'd be the long game I can't afford to pay over a motherboard I got for £20.

What'd be the likelihood that'd cause a problem on my working SSD given how it's the only one I have access to?

bad flash

rma back to the mfg

or if you have chip flashing tools, you can desolder its flash chip and flash it yourself, then solder it back on after it has the correct bin

plug usb in, try F11 to enter Boot Menu, select usb. it should boot from it. then you might be able to flash the bios in windows to fix it.
