Is Cyberpower as Bad as They Say?
I'm thinking of buying a new pc from Cyberpower but saw the horrific reviews on Consumeraffairs about the company. I dug a little deeper and people have nasty things to say about Consumeraffairs too, with lawsuits. I don't know what to do, I put together a sweet gaming pc on Cyberpower and want to order it but not if it will arrive broken, has anyone else ordered a pc from Cyberpower recently, please let me know what you think from your experiences. Thanx.

microcenter pcs are pretty good, price is only about $100-200 over building yourself
and with no bloatware

but any oem prebuild is never worth it

If you live near one, sure. They're all to scattered about right now.

Not to me apparently. Living 350 miles away from the nearest location and they still refuse to ship, anything.

My current rig came from cyberpower uk, built to my specifications, only way I could get a gpu without paying way over the odds at the time

Rig turned up DOA, wouldn't even post. Wiring was a complete mess, damage to one of the pci slots, stuff I'd paid for missing. Took almost 4 weeks to get it back to them and then back to me

When it came back the wiring was once again spaghetti junction, they'd even fed one of the fan cables through the actual fan itself meaning there's absolutely no way it was ever tested

Stripped it down to bare bones and rebuilt it myself, been running like a dream since. Will never buy anything from them again though, pretty sure they just use school work experience kids to do their work for them

My advice is avoid them like the plague
some prebuilds are ok, example i used a prebuild to obtain my cpu memory and windows 10 os, the prebuilt also had a heat sink and fan, and included a cd rom even though i don't use it. also it had a 1T HD which at the time SSD was still more expensensive.

for a new entry level computer prebuilts are good to obtain parts and screws and other cables.
for a cheap price

most of the time you can remove a prebuilt usb / card reader an put them into a custom built pc as well. a few prebuilts will even have wifi chips in them which can usally be swaped out into m.2 wifi slot.

it comes down to what you have vs what the prebuilt can offer you, extra case fans are also nice, you can strip down a prebuilt and repurpose most of the parts.

doesn't really matter how old a thread if its relivant , and its clearly relivant, its a extremely bad policy to lock threads because of age of thread, considering nothing has changed the converation is about prebuilts. i feel this thread has current and realisticly helpful information.

It's considered bad form because people who were in the conversation may no longer be active members and cannot reply. There's always room for a new thread.

I used to work for Dell about 20 years ago when they were still good, although at the time I would always build my own rig. Now I'm older and can't be bothered so I bought a Dell XPS with a 3060ti about 2 years ago. Had NO AIRFLOW AT ALL and a cheap pancake cooler on the cpu. The XPS case is garbage. There's no way to even mod it so you can draw air through the front. I'll never buy a dell desktop again and will NEVER recommend them to anyone.

It's a shame Lenovo is a chinese company because they actually make a good pc. My pc prior to getting the Dell I mentioned above was a Lenovo desktop. I remember how surprised I was at the build quality. That pc was a decent gaming system and ran trouble free for 4 years until I got a new one. But Dammit it's made in China and just can't trust that anymore.

It's hard nowadays but there are good systems to be had although you need to do your research. Don't rush into it, and buy on sale.
Or as mentioned several times, build one.
