How to install older version of Nvidia graphics driver?
After updating my graphic driver to the newest one, fps been dropping to 10-30 many time. I can't rollback to previous version because I used DDU. When I try to install the older version, this shows up "Nvidia installer cannot continue, The standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using GeForce Experience to download the correct version". But I don't want to use GeForce Experience because it only allows me to update to the newest one which has problem.

Will try the installation downloaded from the specific website.

I tried, it is still the same message coming out. "The standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using GeForce Experience to download the correct version".

So any other idea? If not I'll have to wait for a newer version than the current one in order to play games.

Which driver version did you try? 399.xx is what I would be trying
I have been trying 399.24 but still can't find a way to install it as I have the issue I mentioned above.

Manually installing the driver using Device Manager is not working too, it will just keep saying that the best version is already installed.

This tells me either you downloaded the wrong bit version, or you're using the wrong bit version.

Are you using Windows 10 32 bit version, or using Windows 10 64 bit version? Yes this does matters, as the drivers are meant for what bit version you're using. I suggest double check your Windows 10 bit version, and then get the drivers bit version, if you're unable to do any of this, I suggest doing what it said from the error message, and it will handle all the work for you.

Click the green button download now, and install it will detect your GPU, and install the drivers for you.
My windows is 64 bit and Im sure I have downloaded the correct installer. If I use GeForce Experience to update my driver, it will only update it to the newest version which is the cause of the low fps in games (30fps).

uninstall geforce experience and reboot pc.

then install using preferred nvdia driver version.

Yea I tried, but it just keep showing error saying that it is not compatible with my current windows version.

Press Windows + Pause on your keyboard and verify that you actually have a 64Bit version of Windows 10 installed.
complete name of downloaded nvidia driver?
i.e.
417.01-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql
416.94-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql
uninstall gfe and opt not to install it when installing the new/next driver

The problem Im facing currently is that I can't even install the previous version before installing geforce experience.

Forgot to mention, Im using Dell G7 7588 Laptop.

perhaps your windows settings prevent you from installing driver.

try disconnecting from internet (turn wifi off)
uninstall your gfe and reboot pc.
since internet is off, windows cannot on its own downlo/install the latest whql driver for you.
install your preferred driver version.

I will try it after my class, thank you. Is it possible to install a driver during safe mode?
