help pushing my MSI FM2-A55M-E33 to the limits?
Hello! well am going to go simple here.

I recently bought for a few bucks an used computer. Which i think it once was suppoced to be a gaming computer cause of the "1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 620" it came whit.

After deleting lots (LOTS) of porn and making the system somewhat usable i got my hands ontto see what specs does it have and so far i need to replace the fan, the disk drive (88GB only) and the CPU (Heats up to 91 °C according to speccy).

Basically i wanna know how far can i push this msi motherboardn whit RAM, processor model and so on please! (doing my own research aside, but i wanna make sure am not messing up and second oppinions help a lot)

Excellent info - that is a pretty killer deal for a jackson note... Yes absolutely get a new cpu fan, something like the Alpine 64 GT[www.amazon.com] or Zalman CNPS80F[www.outletpc.com] should be well more than enough. Power supply, the good-old CX450 grey[www.newegg.com] is on rebate again, thats always a good bet.

I also have an a4-4000 going as an HTPC, with that exact same mobo, uncanny! Perfect for 1080p, not sure I would invest any further $$ into it trying to make it a gaming PC - might be best saving up more for a basic 2200g / b450 build.

Also have to comment on the GT620, the performance is literally the same as the APU's on-board HD 7480D so that was a very strange combination...

GT620[www.videocardbenchmark.net] vs HD7480D[www.videocardbenchmark.net]

I would just pull the GT out and shelf it, and use the APU for the 1080p HDTV goodness. Always good to have a spare...

first things first, recover your windows keys[www.howtogeek.com] and do a fresh install of the OS.

As far as overclocking on that board, personally I would not even bother it is not exactly high-end, if you can list all the model of components for cpu / memory / power supply / case and fan placement that would be a good start.

A GT 620 is intended for office use . Not for gaming. They cost about $25. As far as CPU support. The motherboard accepts AMD APUS A4- A!0. Its basically all outdated. Not sure if it would be worth spending any money on.

Did a clean install of windows 10 and seems to run flawlessly good (a million times better actually). also i think i got the problem whit the CPU, i need a new fan ASAP basically.

Also fixed the problem whit the memory, after running some tests i realized i actually had 465GB disk drive hiding behind some partitions the last ashhole owner made for apparently no reason whit acronis.

So far what i disscovered here was aftter dissasembling the PC appart a little, apparently inside this pc i have:

  • A budget 465GB Toshiba disk drive which am very porne to jusr replace for something more beefy
  • A budget Power suply that am going to deffinetly replace
  • a 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 that am porbabbly keeping for the time being
  • a total of 4GB of ram thanks to some non-branded sticks
  • an AMD A4-4000 CPU which heats up a lot thanks to loose thermal grease and a fan that seen better days
  • and the main attaction here: an MSI FM2-A55M-E33 motherboard

Neh for me is worth it, since am here to basically ee how far i can push this little thing before making a shopping list to go on ebay or alibaba and buy me some components. been asking on local stores also for prices.

and according to some self investigation, this thing still can make a good enough budget gamming pc, can pack up to 8GBs in this thing, which is actually better than the laptop i usually play in..

Simple m8, cause it was cheap and and for me this is a lil learning process to see how i can make it work.
Also 20 bucks isnt so bad for a running pc, and i can alllways use it as a test machine or hook it up to my tv to have a multimedia center.

[UPDATE 08/12/2018 18:09]

OK! i got the pc a little face wash, took off all the ubçgly stickers on the case and managed to pinn down some of the problems whit it, like the CPU overheating done by the fan

so far my shopping list is
  • An AMD Athlon X4 760K processor (refference found
    Here[www.cpu-upgrade.com])
  • Two 8 GB sticks to reach a full 16GB whit both ram slots (Refference found Here[www.crucial.com])
  • A good fan that won't ffck up
  • Some thermal grease (probabbly included whit the fan)
  • A new case since this one its done for
  • A new disk drive whit some more buff intto it

I'll need to seek for a grphycs card that works whit the motherboard, since the 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 i think i can push that thing a little more further.
