Get a WD Green SSD or WD Blue SSD instead.

WD Green SSDs are dirt slow compared to the A400 while also being more expensive. WD Blue is faster then the A400 yet nearly 2x as expensive.

The Kingston A400 and Samsung 860 evo are currently the best bang for the buck SSDs. All the other stuff is either a lot more expensive or a lot slower.

i'd avoid some SanDisk SSD's, but i've never had any issues with Kingstons.
i'd say, go for it

the early models, apparently they have a cheap controller that fails to report the actual health of the drive, "lying" they are all good when they are not.
you can find them on sales from time to time.

my SDSSDA480G just corrupts any modern filesystem, but does work albeit slow with older systems, a friend of mine has a SD8SBBU-240G and its been nothing but trouble with the "new" AppleFS

agree I also thought the sandisk "plus" models had problems and the "ultra" models were good, I have an ultra 480g based on that...
