If i have 4G internet but its limited, is it worth getting 3G unlimited
i live in rural new zealand and we havent had access to unlimited internet until recently. We are currently on a plan of 200gb per month for about $130 nzd ($90 usd) but for $20 more we can get on an unlimited internet plan. Our current plan is on 4G but the unlimited is 3G, is it worth getting 3G for the unlimited, because our plan is to ditch the ridiculously price sky tv pack we are on and get netflix instead which will work out cheaper per month then what we are currently doing put will exhaust our internet before the month ends.

200g is alot of data for a phone
unless you play on facebook all day

if you can limit the 4g usage and use wifi it will be fine

I'd say it would come down to speeds in your area, as 4g seems all over the place but 3g is quite a bit slower, then again, 200GB is very limiting, I've just swapped my dad over to 4G for his Internet (as he spends half his time in Spain, half in England it's replacing 2 phone lines etc) and his limited use has managed to eat 90GB in the first month (luckily its an unlimited plan as I'm footing the bill lol).

3g/4g suck for gaming
many phone carriers block everything other than http/s (80/443/8080) and a few other ports for mobile stores and services

get fiber, cable or dsl as a last resort

Such things are not always available in rural areas.
In such cases you make dobwith the best you can get, for my dad, who is now 71, 4g actually works well for him, he uses his phone as a hot-spot and so has a fairly decent connection where ever he is, and it's worked out cheaper, and faster, than the 2 broadband packages he was having to pay for.
From someone in Australia who actually uses 4GX / 4G PLUS Technology

4G LTE-A with Cat9 or better, using 3CA, actually rocks for gaming if you can get it.
I often get 165 Mbps to my iPhone 7 Plus, with insane upload speeds and low pings.

3G is like standing still by comparison... it has horrible latency issues and poor throughput.

That said I also have VDSL2 (with Fibre to the Building) that has a average carrier speed of 80 Mbps down and a burst carrier speed of 140 Mbps, with slightly better pings and UNLIMITED DATA;... so I use that when I am at home and not roaming around outdoors.
