VGA light on when i start, but a restart undoes it. Reoccurring issue.
When i start my computer i can see the VGA light is on and there is no display on my monitor, but after turning my computer off holding the power button in, and then turn it back on, it's fine. However, this seems to be a reoccurring problem.

Specs:
i7 7700k
MSI GTX 1080
16 GB RAM
Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON

EDIT: I want to add this all seems to have happened after i turned the power mains off. Not whilst my PC was on, after it was all shut down and everything. Not new PC

A GTX 1080 does not have a VGA aka D-SUB output. nVidia no longer supports analog video output.

Then why is my VGA light popping on?
pull the mobo, check the mobo standoffs
only use ones the mobo has mounts for

(the vga light on the mobo means there is a problem possibly related to the gpu)

He was talking about troubleshoot LEDs, not display connection type

Reseat your GPU, and if you didn't use all of your standoffs under the motherboard, you should do so, because contact between the board and the metal of your case can cause a short.
the case often has standoff locations for all atx style boards
itx, atx, m-atx, e-atx ect.
only use the standoffs the mobo has holes for

I have a prebuilt, so it should be sorted. It's also not a new PC, so yeah, confused.

Thats on the motherboard it's failing to see the gpu.

Remove and re-seat the gpu card.

This seems to happen to to me too. My motherboard has a white led vga error when I reboot. I honestly was told my ASUS a theory that it was my video card. Odd thing. This happened to my previous motherboard. I got a new one and it did the same thing again. Strange thing is my video card isn't a year old yet. I think it either is a video card issue (maybe) or firmware problem with motherboard but last resort it has to be probably be the standoffs. Stuff like this can occur. It usually goes away if I restart the PC. I might have to uninstall this contraption and check my stand offs which is a PAIN in the ass!
