Windows recognizes headset as speakers.
Hi,
So basically what the title says. No matter if i plug them to the back or the front, they still sound really quiet and Windows recognizes them as speakers. I have an Asus b450m-k mobo with Realtek audio and a Logitech g332 headset.

Of course they are speakers. That's how 3.5mm audio works. Now just set them to Headphones, done. If it's too quiet, set then as 2.1 Speakers.

They're not connected via 3.5mm, the mic and audio output jacks are seperated.

That means it's still connected via 3.5mm, unless you're talking about those USB headsets.
It's either 3.5mm Jacks or usb, which is it. As usb doesn't use your onboard audio.
just configure them as headset for voip in realtek control panel, then windows audio control panel
Windows playback/recording
Like always...
I have a Sades Hammer gaming headset that does the same thing, even as connected via usb. But it has it's own volume controller.
Usb is its own audio chip and driver. Usb audio devices don't use your onboard audio or sound card
