Windows FLP SP2 for the file server.
Take us through the steps you are using in order to share a folder or drive.
As for a home server I would just use a good Linux distro or perhaps Win7 or 10 64bit Pro. Having actual Windows Server OS is just not worth using.
Also me neither, all I'm doing is connecting the two with a Crossover LAN cable and doing what you need to set up a connection.
(Set file server to connect to main and vice versa.)
(I used this video: https://youtu.be/CcpH5U3KWts )
I got this error after disabling sharing with D:/IBM (the folder)
And enabled sharing of the folder D: which gave me the message of "admin purposes only and will be reset after restart", issue though, it is stuck on sharing that drive, so I removed sharing but it will be reset after restart to sharing the D: drive.
IBM folder is fine however D: is not.
you check if smb was still enabled?
No just plug both PC into the router or network switch all using straight ethernet CAT5E cables and view them via Windows Explorer > Network
Very simple
As far as I know so the files could be shared. I thought it was necessary for file sharing. That's what I figured back when I did experiment with file sharing (over wi-fi though).
Are you new to PC and Windows Networking?
What I'm saying is we don't need crossover cable anymore. You simply put the PCs on the same network and share files quite easily.
