Upgraded to FX-8300 and it's worse
Just moved up from an Fx-6300 to an Fx-8300, I'm reinstalling windows now but are there any tips from someone who owns this CPU that might be able to help me out?

Depending on what GPU you have the CPU upgrade may or may not make a difference.

That's more of a sidegrade, not an upgrade. I don't think there's going to be any noticible difference in gaming, but it shouldn't be worse. What temps are you gettings? What mobo?

Probably a motherboard with poor VRM, or the cpu is simply getting too hot due to crappy cooling.

uhhh i just found the 8300 for like 50 something dollars and got a hard on so im not at that big a loss, thanks for the concern though man i appreciate it, and I'll be sure to post my plans more often

Yea I'm missing so much ♥♥♥♥ here and im willing to bet i should just sell this ♥♥♥♥ to somebodys kid who wants to play fortnite and use whatever i get on a cyber monday pc with a ryzen mobo or whatever the hell i can scrounge
Here's my mobo though in case you can tell me anything about it, i did research myself to see that it was compatible but idk maybe there's some strings attached

Version SEx (im not joking that's what it is)

With RTSS OSD enabled, yes. HW Monitor should be used, open that and run your most demanding game for 20 minutes or so, then screenshot everything it reports.

Definitely not the best mobo for FX overclocking, but it should handle some thanks to cooling on VRM mosfets. CPU 4.2GHz, CPU-NB 2.6GHz and RAM 2133MHz should be totally doable.

it's kinda just been crashing if i even push it past like 3.6ghz
i have some extra bigass fans too idk
a lot of my games are just crashing now straight up

That's weird. Almost sounds like you've been only OCing bus, which pushed CPU-NB or HT too far.

Yeah, even for as old as that hardware is, or as mediocre as the CPU's are, $50 isn't a tough sell for some improved performance.
