So just to be certain
Youve tried ONLY having the DVI cable connected and switched to the DVI input of the monitor? You'll likely have to manually switch to whichever input you want to use via the monitors settings

Turn the PC and Monitor off
Connect the DVI cable to the PC and the monitor, turn the PC on and wait for it to boot up THEN turn the monitor on and see what that does, just make sure the monitor chooses the correct Input

And double check what DVI cable you're using, whether its a DVI-D cable or DVI-I cable and what port its connected to the GPU
I don’t see a VGI d to be connected to my graphics card
DVI-D? You have to plug it in for it to work..

Just return that Monitor. Anything that still must use dvi for the high refresh is outdated. Gpus only have hdmi and dp on them so buy aa monitor that has both hdmi and dp on it, then use the dp for high refresh gaming pc.

DVI-D you mean?
If that cable is DVI-I thats why its not working, the monitor will be using DVI-D not DVI-I, theres a difference.

Knowing what GPU you have would also be useful

As its a newer card you definitely need a DVI-D cable, DVI-I carries an analog signal which wont work without being actively powered with modern GPUs

Look up the differences of DVI-D and DVI-I cables and make sure you have the correct one

The problem i see here is that not only it needs DVI-D, but it also has to be dual link DVI-D. The cabe has to be dual link (a lot of them have all the pins but do not have them actually connected) and port on videocard has to be dual link. Specs for modern cards only mention "DVI-D", not sure if they bother making it dual link (now that DVI is basically outdated and is only added for compatibility with old displays). Also any passive hdmi->dvi adapter will not work, it will be single link (again, regardless of the fact that all the pins might be present). Worst case active DP/HDMI->dual link DVI-D adapter will have to be used, which might be hard to find and relatively expensive. Another option might be using integrated graphics output, that's what i've done with my old benq xl2410t (dvi/hdmi/vga, 120Hz possible only when dual link DVI-D is used).

Also yes, presence of DP on OP-s monitor is something i missed, definitely should use it then, buying DP cable is much easier than fiddling with DVI.

It's DVI-D Dual which is different from DVI-D - extra pins which are actually connected, which cheap DVI-D Dual cables often don't do.

OP's monitor has DP, all rtx 2060's are likely to have DP so I'd go with that.

But sound requires using the 3.5mm audio cable with DVI and probably DP.

DP carries audio the same as HDMI does. This is why your gpu will offer about 3x or 4x hd audio device listings/options for gpu audio.

But for that to work, DVI can't be anywhere in the mix.

If you stick with this monitor, then you must use...

> DVI-D Dual-Link cable male to male

> Active DP male to DVI-D female adapter

I have one of these monitors but the H model which has the 3D emitter built in and is VA not TN.

It works fine with my gtx1080ti which has dvi-d output. However as the manual says, although not clearly, for sound to work with dvi-d it needs the 3.5mm audio cable as well, which is supplied in the box.

You can quickly test this via the sound control panel. With DVI connected there will be no speakers enabled. Connect the audio cable and immediately the monitor speakers are enabled with a green tick.

HDMI works with sound but is limited to 60hz.

You don't need an active adapter, which will cost a small fortune. And even if you used one, it won't have sound either.

Why? Because the monitor doesn't support sound via DVI. It's the monitor that doesn't support it. DP seems to support sound as it says HDMI/DP and I personally know that HDMI does.

And here is what ASUS.com says -

"The audio cable needs to be connected with PC if you want to play audio from monitor by using VGA or DVI signal port.

If you want to transfer the audio source with video cable, please make sure you’re using HDMI-HDMI or DisplayPort-DisplayPort cable to connect with your PC. Because VGA / DVI switch will filter out audio source from HDMI or DP signal.

If your PC has no HDMI or DP port, please connect audio cable with your PC for help."

1920x1080* (DVI/DP) 85Hz 95.43KHz (2D)
1920x1080* (DVI/DP) 144Hz 158.11KHz (2D)
1920x1080* (DVI/DP) 100Hz 113.3KHz (2D)/113.8KHz (3D)
1920x1080* (DVIDP) 120Hz 137.2KHz (2D/3D)

And it's probably smarter to buy some good speakers than spend money on a signal converter.

Hmm yea newer gpus don't have dvi, cause well its outdated and replaced.
So your 1080 ti has nothing to do with this issue, nor is it helpful.

There are some rtx's with dvi. And all have DP. His monitor has both. So what's the problem?
