"Gsync compatible" is a very misleading name, it's not actually Gsync.

have you tried downloading Onscreen control? i can turn freesync on or off with that too.

Good luck with getting FreeSync to work and actually be useful, hopefully you have one of the few monitors that allow full range of refresh and doesn't have dropped/skipped frames, discoloration, ghosting, etc.
