G-Sync on Free Sync monitor

EDIT: Thanks all but I found the menu on the monitor to enable freesync. I still have a lot of work to try and get this to work. My PC did not like booting with the monitor setting changed.


Nvidia has just given us a way to use their propriatary gSync on freesync monitirs:

I have a Titan card (the old version, equivelent to 1080TX) and an LG 34 inch ultrawide 34UM68-P. The LG does support freesync. I am using a displayport cable. I updated the drivers. But I cannot get the Nvidia menus as shown in the articles. :(
I do not see a menu on the LG to enable freesync. But maybe I don't know what I am looking at.
Is there something to do on the LG monitor to enable freesync? Ideas?

What GPU? If it isn't a GTX 10 series or higher it can't use the G-sync compatible function

Depends on what exact card you have. If it's not available in the Nvidia control panel your card probably doesn't support it.

They actually embraced the open Freesync standard.

"Gsync compatible" is a very misleading name, it's not actually Gsync.

i have an lg freesync monitor, but a different model. i can turn freesync on or off in the settings, but i also have an amd card so i don't know if that makes a difference.

have you tried downloading Onscreen control? i can turn freesync on or off with that too.

Freesync(opensource) is created from amd ofc you can use it with amd gpu . Nvidia just implemented it in the own driver now that nvidia users can use it now too as adaptive sync.

Since it is an open standard, it does not have any regulations on how it operates. This means you are not guaranteed any kind of performance standard and results may vary.

Good luck with getting FreeSync to work and actually be useful, hopefully you have one of the few monitors that allow full range of refresh and doesn't have dropped/skipped frames, discoloration, ghosting, etc.
