yes - and Ryzen CPU's are really depending on higher RAM clocks because of the Infinity Fabric. Simply said it connects all the cores with each other and enables them to communicate with each other. The Bus speed is always dependign (same) on the RAM speed:
Faster RAM = faster Bus = faster the cores can communciate with each other = the faster they can work
On the long term, that would within that budget be the best value and easiest to upgrade:

alternativly you can swap the Ryzen 2600 for a 1500X which IMO is not worth the few GBP you save. With the sellign of your current RAM + MoBo + CPU you might could afford the 2nd 8GB Stick and use Dual Channel.
I put a couple refurb x3 450s together just for that they work fine streaming and surfing.
There's no way I can afford an MSI 450.
If it's Intel CPUs, then it's fine with 2400mhz, even 2133mhz.
But if it's an AMD Ryzen CPU, then you're going to want above 3000mhz, otherwise you're going to perform pretty bad.
And, usually, in the 4000+area, they're slower than 2,400 - 3,600mhz area, because their timings are looser.
So, what CPU do you intend to use?
I know what it's like to have no money, and buying 'cheap' now, will only make it worse.
If you want bang for buck, and good futureproofing, get the Ryzen 5 2600.
It's a little more expensive, but it's way better, and will last you longer.
If you try to save money, you'll only regret it down the line, pick something good up, that will last you a while.
All it takes is a little while more saving.
I don't know what you mean, the AMD stock cooler? Or an AIO that you have?
(But the Ryzen CPUs come with a cooler anyway, that's quite good.)
If the cooler is as old as that system then you'll need a modern cooler as well to fit the new board
My library consists of games that tend to either use an older graphics engine or tend to be limited.
From what I've read, the AMD processors sold on Amazon don't come with a cooler and are extra cost.
Incorrect
Searching for Ryzen 2600 brings up every available Ryzen and it specifically states "With Wraith Spire LED Cooler"
Meaning it COMES with one
If the CPU you are looking at doesnt come with one it will say so

The 2600 with Stealth cooler is on offer but with the higher speed RAM the total comes up to £343.63. I might be able to do it as long as the offers don't end just before I can lend the money, which is rather typical of this situation.

Should suit your needs just fine. You can stick another 8 gig in there and new Zen CPU that aren't even released yet. The 2200g is a fine CPU and would eat your current for lunch. Plus it has a GPU for those times where you may not have a video card in hand.
