Low FPS on good PC
I have a IBuyPower PC and I have had it for about a year now. I came back from deployment only to find out that almost all of the games are running very slow and constantly lagging. My ping in the games are great but my FPS is terrible. Overwatch used to run perfectly now it is unplayable, other games not working properly are Fortnite, Escape from Tarkov and PUBG. League of Legends runs fine and so does Squad. I have completely reset the desktop and re-installed everything. Checked all drivers for updates and ran the virus scans. All Temps are power are fine. PLEASE HELP!!!! SPECS are...…
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz
16GB Ram
Intel(R) HD Graphics 630
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
64-bit Operating System
I am also using Windows 10.

Has the machine been moved maybe? Someone might have plugged the monitor in to the motherboard instead of the GPU.

This is usually the cause. Recheck the wiring just to make sure.
Yeah. Connect monitor to graphics card for gains.

So glad you were successful as that is what's important.

But the Best Buy thing, ouch,. This community could walk you through the most effective "tune up" , quite simply & for free. Never hurts to ask right?

But, lessons learned, happy gaming.

Yeah, I will never trust Best Buy, at least the branches in my region. They are some of the worst branches in North America as a whole; inexperienced, lazy, and/or scumbag employees who care only about getting paid, going as far as tricking customers into trashing fixable computers in favour of buying a new one from them. One of those unhappy customers relayed the following story to me when I worked for a computer repair shop as a co-op student back in high school:

He had brought his system to Best Buy in our city because it wouldn't turn on at all, and they told him that it was the motherboard and tried to sell him a new system, but he said no and left. For some reason, he decided to go back there again and found a different employee who said that there was nothing wrong when he tried (he lied), but the problem persisted when this guy took it home. So he found us, and it was immediately apparent that the power supply was bust because it wouldn't power on, and testing with another PSU proved successful. Problem solved, without having to spend hundreds on a new PC, just around 30~40$ for a basic Thermaltake PSU.

Yeah i agree 100% that was my biggest reason for not taking the PC into the store. For the amount of money i spent on it i would not dare spend more money on a new one or parts i knew were good to go.

Good deal, we all learn, I'm over my depth on 2 out of the 4 machines I'm building. Pretty soon I'll start looking for recommendations on voltage shunt tactics tactics for GPU and after exhausting the interwebs for general info, I will come straight here and see what this crowd has to say. We are all learning, and overall there is a nice, core group here of greatly experienced folk who will share from that experience.
