No. Use a display port cable that goes from your display port on the GTX1080 to the Displayport on your BenQ. Stop. Using. DVI. It's more trouble than it's worth.

If the monitor doesn't have DP how is this suggestion going to work?
i got a small DP to DVI cable to support the DVI cable from my monitor

Is the cable dual-link?
This model is dumb why the hell would you do this BenQ (facepalm)
XL2411 has a Dual-link DVI Looking at the resolution specification table DVI-D supports

1920*1080 @ 144Hz over DVI

According to the google search I did, it did have DP, but it appears BenQ is one of those lovely companies selling displays with code names that vary only one or two letters.
Correction go into Windows settings.
Find
Control panel -> Screen Resolution -> Advanced Display settings (IF windows 7)
Windows 10 -> Settings -> Display -> Advanced Display settings -> Display Adaptor Properties -> Monitor -> Screen Refresh Rate

That won't work as that limits you to 60Hz.

If the monitor supports HDMI 2 and not just HDMI 1.4 you can use a hdmi cable.

Otherwise you have to buy an active converter cable for DVI-D Dual Link. But they cost over $100 and don't always work.

I SOLVED THIS BY BUYING A ''ACTIVE DISPLAYPORT TO DVI-D'' from BizLink!, as long if its a active on it might be expensive but worth it if you have a DVI for 144Hz supported monitor and not have a DP input for a newer GPU's, SO GET A ACTIVE DISPLAY PORT TO DVI-D!
