motherboard still recieving power after shut down
When I shut down my computer, I have noticed the motherboard is still receiving power. The motherboard lights are on and the network port is still flashing, like in use.

Nothing is powered up in the sense, its just the lights remain on unless I switch the power off on the PSU.

For the love of me, I cant seem to disable this. Any advice would be gratful

Think of it as switching off your TV with the remote control and it enters a deep power saving mode. Apparently you can always unplug the TV fully from power, but then it doesn't really add any wear and tear to the hardware either. If anything, generating a tiny bit of heat helps to keep any moisture in the air away. The most important point being you will be upgrading to the next piece of hardware long before there is any physical damage caused due to this particular reason.

However, decorative LEDs on motherboards do often has a toggle setting in the BIOS.

Capacitors retain charge.
Its a new build, anyway I check out the bios and see what I can find.
Shutting down the PC never turns the power off to the mootherboard.
To turn the power off you have to physically turn the PSU off.
some motherboard with charging usb ports continue to do so.

check your motherboard features.
This is all normal.

LEDs and RGB can sometimes be disabled in BIOS.
i have a ASUS M.B.does the same thing i can turn it off in Aura app
-ALL- motherboards, even old ones from the 1990's do this. When you "shut down" it doesn't "all the way shut down", it just goes in to a "mostly entirely off state" and you have to pull power cord or switch off the power supply in the back to get it off all the way. This is normal operation and this how PC's are designed to function.

Fun note: When you "Shut down" the computer from in windows and it gets to this state (looks like it's off but network and other LED's still on) you can charge your cell phones and other USB devices through the ports in this mode.
After a little research I found the settings in the bios. I disabled 'ErP Ready for S4 and S5' plus disabled 'USB power delivery in Soft Off state (S5)'. Plus another setting named 'SupremeFX LED lighting', what this does is it disables LED lighting once the PC is switched off.

Anyway guys and girls, thanks for your help.

That may turn off charging when it's in this state.. and make the lights turn off but the computer will always still be using a little bit of power when you "shut down" and leave it sitting there "off" while connected to AC (Wall) power just so you know. It's how computers are designed to work.

What I meant is more turnning off the lights and all. I found the USB port was causing this and now at least I don't have too switch PSU off all the time.

Well unless you don't want your computer using -any- power when it's "off" that is. Some people are concerned with that. It goes along with a lot of other "Zombie Power" devices in the house that go in to "Standby" when they're "Off". Like monitors.
It's completely normal you have nothing to worry about mine does it too untill I turn the power supply off then it takes roughly 10 seconds then my rgb turns off
