You don't have to reinstall Windows after swapping a CPU.

Who the hell told you that you have to reinstall Windows when replacing a CPU? It's best to have a clean installation of Windows when switching out a boot drive from an HDD to SSD though, but even that doesn't have to be done....

There is zero reason to reinstall Windows when swapping the boot drive. Aside from "I dunno how to use Clonezilla/Acronis" and "I just want a clean Windows install".

the only time you would need to reinstall windows is when changing motherboards. cloning a HDD onto an SSD does not impact the OS in anyway. data is the same on both storage types

You don't even 'need' to do it then. I threw a Win 10 boot drive into a totally different PC and it booted up and all seemed to work fine.

True it can be done but it's not a good idea. There will be driver problems until you wipe the old ones and install new ones for the chipsets

Unless you are also replacing the moherboard there is little reason to new Windows install just to swap CPUs.

Just cpu equals just Install new cpu and cooler. Done

Change of a new CPU literally requires nothing software-wise. You get a message on boot that a new CPU was detected. Thats all.
