How do i know my mouse is wearing down?
Sometimes when I hold down left click, it randomly releases.
So for example when I'm playing csgo and I preparing my grenade it just randomly throws.
When I try to tap the button, sometimes it won't click/it will hold it down longer than I pressed it for.

Do I need a new mouse? Or is there a way to fix this.

You probably need a new mouse, man. I don't recommend just going for any mouse though, one with Omron switches at least would be ideal as they last longer and feel better.

The best rated mice I can find are Logitech's G502, and Razer's DeathAdder Elite.
HyperX sells their own "copies" of the DeathAdder series: HyperX Pulsefire FPS and Pulsefire FPS Pro (Difference is mostly the Pro having RGB and 30M higher click rating Omron switches than the standard version with red LEDs.) I only mentioned it because I have a Pulsefire FPS, and it's quite good for a lower price tag than the DeathAdders.

Get a new mouse. Also whats your mouse? and when did you buy it? most mice especially gaming ones have a warranty. I know Logitech has one and I applied for a replacement and they gave me a brand-spanking new mouse.
the switch has 3 solder points and isnt that hard to replace with a new one, just need soldering iron

I use the tracker pad on my cheap ass Microsoft keyboard, not any good for gaming I admit, but the mouse buttons sure are sturdy :steamhappy:

Bad micro-switch you can replace it or buy a new mouse. I'd prefer th repair as the same thing will happen to the next mouse, knowing how to de-solder the micro-switch and replace it is a skill that not only works on just 1 mouse type but most mouse types. I mean the OMRON switches for my G700s are $3.00 or less from ebay.

Same ♥♥♥♥ man.
I have been having HyperX Pulsefire FPS Pro for like 1.5 years, and suddenly started to notice this lags. More often when planting bomb or spraying, and it suddenly releases. It is so annoying last few days. I have kinda searched for some info, and this post is the only one i found. I dont think omron switches could have broken so fast, they say it have to work for 20 mil clicks, but i've only played for 1k hours since then. Right now i'm kinda tryin to get some help or warranty service with that mouse, but im not sure i'll succeed there(
You could pour some rubbing alcohol under the button and click it a bunch of times and let it sit upside down overnight, I guess.

If the connection is dying there's not much you can do.

When I changed my mouse the feet and part of the underside was gone lol It was time
My problem is the left mouse button starts to double click. I press it and it clicks twice. Most noticeable on web surfing. I get two tabs opened for the link I clicked. I buy top versions of Logitech and it still happens. On every one of them I have owned. It is just starting on my G602 that is supposed to have the newer better switches. I have to look at my purchase history. It might be in warranty. 3 years I think. I have to check.

mouse switches are not difficult to replace

when they are going bad you will get double clicks, missed/delayed clicks, or sometimes wiggle the button to make it click/tap/unclick

most use this style
https://www.ebay.com/itm/10PCs-Button-Switch-Mouse-Switch-3Pin-Microswitch-For-RAZER-Logitech-G700-Mouse/264849989706

if the switch is 6x6mm square you need to measure the height of the switch, 5-20+mm
(you cannot cut them shorter)
and some are 2pin, most are 4pin

I've had 20m Omrons die on me a few months in - 20m is nothing but an estimation.

Won't help with double clicks, which is usually leaf spring failure.

Top Logitech mice use 50m Omrons, which are notorious for doubleclicking, sometimes out of the box.
That's why on their recent revisions of the GPW and GPW Superlight, they used 20m Omrons.

I second this, 5 mins and a soldering iron, and you can replace a switch no problem.
Though, for switch choice, I would look at getting Kailh GM4.0 or 8.0s, as they should last longer, and are generally higher quality than Omron D2FC switches.

chinese switches will last 6mo to a year with daily use, but are dirt cheap 20 for <$2usd shipped
keep in mind that if not using quality desoldering tools it can damage the traces/board
Talby 23 nov, 2020 @ 20:25
Avoid D2FC and get the D2F (Japan part numbers), they are much more reliable

D2F-01 (150gf)[www.digikey.com] normal weight / tactile
D2F-01F (75gf)[www.digikey.com] light weight / less tactile

That's not exactly true - My Deathadder Chroma had 20m Omrons and lasted 4 years before switch failure, and around a year after that, the other switch failed.
20m Omrons are by no means bad, there are just better ones out there.

I have read that people have clearance issues with D2Fs, since they're slightly taller, though I've read the spec sheets, and it appears to be a tiny negligible amount.
(You could always swap stem/plungers, so it doesn't seem to be an issue.)

Though, the Japanese ones don't seem that much better (feel wise), I see mixed reviews on them.

I still recommend Kailh GM 4.0 or 8.0s.

Not to attack anyone or anything but how did my 2~ year old thread get revived again lmfao.
Some guy has a double clicking issue, no point making a new thread when one already exists, at least in my opinion.
