Worth upgrading to RTX 2080TI for ray tracing at max settings 2560x1440?

My pc now is:
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS PRIME X370 PRO
CPU: RYZEN 7 1700
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200MHZCL15 GS KILL RIP JAWS
GPU: GTX 970 G1 GAMING
MONITOR: DELLP2416D 24'' 2560X1440 60 HZ IPS
PSU: CORSAIR 750 WATT
HDD1: WD BLACK 4 TB
HDD2: 1 TB
I have wathced all ray traced videos on youtube and it seems like lighting and shadows are enough better compared to how they are on all no ray tracing cards. And since weeks ago from what i read battlefield 1 which is currently the only game to support raytracing became playble at 2560x1440 max settings with RTX 2080 TI and we have more coming like metro exodus atomic heart control e.t.c. But since it is very expensive(most cheap iin my country is the Palit RTX 2080TI for 1250 euros) will it be worth to wait for AMD and Intel to release their ray tracing graphics card at a cheaper price or will it take so long? I already upgraded in 2017(cpu ram motherboard and hdd) and also in 2016(monitor and psu) so upgrading again now seems crazy but anyway what should i do?

a couple of months ago i would have said just get a 1080ti but they are getting harder and harder to find new. also it seems as if nvidia and developers along with microsoft are pushing to make ray tracing better so in all honesty i would recommend (if you have the coin) get a 2080ti.

im not buying into ray tracing just yet because i don't play the games that currently support it but maybe in the future (if we get a choice) i will buy into it. for now my 1080ti does what i want it to do

Unless you have said games you could always wait for the 11 series to come out.

1. you only have a 60hz monitor.
2. 1700 will hold the 2080 ti back somewhat.

1. A 2080 will do the exact same thing for him, since he's only running 60hz

But, while raytracing is great, I just don't think it's worth it at all. And running games at max settings seems rather pointless to me (since in some cases it makes the games look ugly (Depth of field, motion blur, etc)

And I doubt AMD or Intel would release ''Ray tracing''' cards.
AMD would give the people what they want, good performance for a cheap price; they wouldn't make cards that do it yet, because they saw how hard Nvidia tanked because of it.

And why would Intel release their first GPU and have it raytraced? That doesn't make sense.
Surely making a product decent, and '''just works''' right out of the box be better that packing a bunch of gimmick features on it.

If you want ray tracing now, get the 2080.
If you don't mind waiting, wait for the next generation of it, that way you'll have more games to play, instead of sitting there thinking why you just spent that much on a GPU that you can't even use the features on properly. And it should actually be able to run games at '''playable''' framerates at max settings, at more than 720p, lmao.

But I honestly don't see the point of ray tracing, sure it looks nice, but in actual gameplay you're almost never going to notice it.
Becuase you're going to be running around doing stuff really fast, so you won't have time to admire the graphics.

Ok how many months do you think will it take before nvidia next series? With the very ow sales of rtx 2000 will it force them to release much sooner than they planned? for example in june maybe? if yes it might be worth to to wait . anyway if buy rtx 2080ti now or a 200% more poweful card it will be huge upgrade from gtx 970. or should i keep gtx 970 for another year until intel releases their first gpus too? because intel will be not be able to have crazy high prices like theyd o on cpu and will make better cards than nvidia at much cheaper price. what will be better? we have 3 opitons

2. wait for rtx 3000
3 wait for intel

just do whatever you can afford
and it'll be a year(at the least) or 2 before a 30 series is even considered.

Err 20 series is flying off shelves, they cannot produce enough high end 2080ti's to meet demand.

Don't buy the cheapest card, like pascal Turing boost drops with temp.

For your setup a 2080 would do fine, though I'm unsure why you are even debating this, just a week ago you were buying 2 2080 ti because you could easily afford it and you needed it...

The 30 series is going to be a good 18 months away and it's unlikely AMD will have a competitor to the 2080ti.

Look at the bottom of these charts to get an idea how badly your r7 1700 will bottleneck a 2080ti so unless you plan to upgrade cpu/mobo as well, the 2080 would likely give the same performance.

My previous cpu that i had it from June 2011 until March 2017 i was a core i5 2500k and i had using it with 3 gpus(gtx 8800gt ti for a few months whern i got it then upgraded to gtx 560 in november 2011 then to gtx 970 in november2014) and guess what? It ditn have any problems with any of them. It was 3 and half years old when GTX 970 released and it workd well with it. Which means since Ryzen 1700 will also be about as old when RTX 3000 release as old was core i5 2500k when GTX 970 released it shouldnt have bottleneck. Not at max settings 1440p thai am playing it. But is Intel release their first gpus eariler than Nvidia, and they are much more powerful than RTX 2000 at cheaper price then i wlll get intel instead of waiting for nividia but that will happen only if intel releases their graphics cards before the next nvfdia. Or is it better to get RTX 2080 TI now.

The 2500k stood up so well as nothing wanted more cores and it overclocked well, for gaming, unless the game uses the cores, the 1700 is slower than an overclocked 2500k.

Intel is unlikely to release anything until 2020, according to them, when and if they do, chances are it won't be a gaming card.

All you should do is get a 2080 at the most, anything more would be a huge waste, your cpu is not fast enough while your screen isn't good enough to make use of the extra frames anyway.

I dont care about 144 fps i have never bought a 144 hz monitor and will never buy one. With or without bottleneck it will still 60 fps on max settings 1440p and 4k on evrything so i bottleneck will be something that i will not understand as it will still running 60 fps on evrything at max settings.

Intel won't release anything soon, 20-21 I guess, and if I'm recalling correctly, then it was meant to be a gaming card.
Although, I don't expect it to be any good, because they're brand new to the market. Although they do have old AMD guys working for them (right?), and Intel have always had a thing for being the best, so maybe they can pull it off. But like their CPUs, it's going to cost an arm and a leg.

As me an Monk have said, get the 2080. You have no goals on getting above 60fps.
As I said in the other thread, you're literally wasting money the more you wait :)
