1080 Ti ryzen 1600 OR gtx 1080 i7 7700k
Title, Which one is better for Gaming.

Also, how much fps difference is there between the cpus in a game like modded Skyrim that uses multiple cores terribly?

I play 1080p btw.

High refresh 1080p?

And why the older chips? Do you have a motherboard or a budget to work to? You are also unlikely to get a 1080ti anymore so you'll want to look at the 2080 for a 1080ti option or the 2070 for a 1080.

Id probably suggest a 2600 or a 9700k for the cpu.
There is no reason to get a 7700K or Ryzen 5 1600; the Ryzen 7 2700X is better and doesn't run nearly as hot even when overclocked, and the 2600 costs only 10$ more than the 1600 but the difference in performance ends up being quite the gap. (10~20%; The difference between a 1700X and 2700X ended up being a 30% performance boost in my tests)

I have 60 hz 1080p Though why am I unlikely to get a 1080 ti anymore?

And I forgot to clarify this, I currently have a ryzen 1600 and 1060 6gb but want to upgrade to 1080 ti. I just wanted to see what people thought about the 2 cpus.

Another thing I forgot to mention, I dont ever overclock so forget that.

You won't get a 1080ti as they have pretty much sold out by now.

At 1080p 60 a 2080 would be wasted. So I'd look at a 1070 or 2070 to be honest.

You have to be joking right? Why would the 1080 ti be out of stock when the older cards arent?

Edit: I just looked it up, darn, though they are not out of stock in my country anyway.

Well good luck getting a good one then for a sane price, not sure what country you are in though.

They stopped making them a few months back, they pretty much match a 2080 only they sold for less, which, you know, is a popular combination, if the 1080ti isn't significantly cheaper, the 2080 would be the better buy anyway.
Heck you can get a 2080 for around 660$ if you know where to look.
Is 650$ or 700$ a good price for a 1080 ti? Or is it too much

That's around the same price as a 2080... The 2080 is better, so no.

Well, I've never seen a rtx 2080 that cheap. The cheapest are like 1000$ minimum. Where did you find those prices?

Edit: Wait nvm, I thought you mean the rtx 2080 ti. Is the 2080 better than the 1080 ti?

Yes.
By how much.. I'll have to see some benchmarks
Somewhere around 5%, just go look up gamers nexus, ltt, jayz2cents etc.

I just looked it up, theres like +3 fps for rtx 2080. I read that if you overclock the 1080 ti you get more fps than the 2080. But if I dont plan to overclock (which I never do anyway) is it better if i get the rtx 2080? They're kinda the same price anyway.
Skyrim and nearly all AAA rpg's run better with a cpu that has a high single-thread speed. Modded skyrim with skse in particular as skse is a scripting language and not executable code. Scripts run slow, so the faster the cpu core the better the fps.
Fallout 4 performance is worse than skyrim, even the vanilla game can stutter in the boston cbd area.

List of cpu single-thread benchmarks here -

Regarding graphics, modded Skyrim can be gpu heavy. I bought a 1080ti just to run modded skyrim at 1080p at 60fps. However there is an ini file fix that uncaps the framerate without causing problems with the physics engine. So it's worthwhile getting a good gpu.

(The new rtx cards do not have dvi connectors. So if you want a gpu capable of driving dvi dual-link monitors like the early asus vg278's at 120hz then you need a gtx - and one with a dvi connector. You can use a converter cable but these are limited to 60hz. Hence the run on high-end gtx's.)
