I'm still rocking a 980 ti. Admittedly it was the the most over clocked beast of a 980 ti ever released but it's on par with a 1070 ti in performance. It plays all the titles I want perfectly well and is solid in VR perfomance as well so absoultely no reason for me to upgrade it any time soon. I can (and probably will) wait for a 3080 ti. RTX will take a while to get added to the majority of titles.

Thats the 980 ti I own vs a 1080 (without additional over clocks)
This is a reffrence 1070 ti vs a 1080

Completely on par with a refrence 1070 ti. Maybe not so much with 3rd party 1070 ti's but I'm not going to test all of them. Eitherway, given the minimal gains in my case, there's no point in purchasing a 10xx card or 20xx card at this time.
The 980ti is a great card, it's just not quite as good as you think, not that it detracts from the card.
Also, I'm pretty sure the zotac amp extreme, evga kingpin, galax hof beat it out for raw clocks, atleast they did on all the overclocking charts.
