Hot I7 7700k temps? 82c max seen.
I've seen 82c max when gaming, but it mostly sits around 50 - 60 when playing games like fortnite, but seems to have a spike of like 70 - 80? Any suggestions, heard i7 7700k's are hot, Would a bios update help? i currently have a asus maximus viii hero, bios version 3401. If this doesn't help can someone tell me the best undervoltage for my cpu.
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 evo
Cheers

ah $20 cpu cooler, cooking your system within spec. can you get away with it? probably, how much is your peace of mind worth.

As for water, large metal tower coolers tend to be on par or more effective until you get into the really expensive stuff. Water is mostly a luxury and or for moving the cooling to some where it will fit in cramped cases. A Noctua won't break on you, and doesn't cost that much vs water. Also, isn't it winter where you are now?

Haha my motherboard can OC its asus maximus viii hero, but i dont have the money right now for a good cpu water cooler.

For future reference you don't need to water cool when OC'ing. Plenty of decent coolers that are cheaper and just as good. Only real advantage to water cool over air cooling is to show off your system. Air cooling requires bigger heatsinks and they can take up a large amount of space.

So when you do decide it's time to OC look at both air and water cooling. Sure air coolers will still be cheaper and have same performance as water coolers.
AIO's and large oversized heatsinks do perform the same.. as long as you're comparing single or dual fan AIO's. But the big 3-fan AIO's is where the liquid cooling systems start to exceed air cooling. And full custom loop setups will always be the best cooling possible. Well, short of a full chiller setup or LN2 that is.

Good point. Either way when OP decides to OC asking here would be a good idea to get best recommendation for the budget they have.

The only viable cooler for 5ghz or higher is noctua and they are butt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ugly i get by fine with a 280mm aio and ive had 3 sold 2 kept the best bin either way unless he got really lucky which if hes hitting those temps stock he didnt hes gonna have to delied for probably anything over 4.9 so its just kinda a waste of time

What about Alpenföhn Olymp, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, Ice Hammer IH-THOR, LC-Power LC-CC-120-X3, Phanteks PH-TC14PE, Reeven Okeanos, Scythe Fuma, Scythe Susanoo, Thermalright Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme?
Is Noctua and Hyper 212 the only air coolers worth looking at?

The only air cooler id use for overclocking is noctua but once i got over 5ghz on the 7700k’s and my 8600k it was water and a delid

Not bad is that with the top panel removed on the R6? Did you add any fans or anything?

Nope, i did remove the top panel and saw the temps drop like 5c down,

Awesome, that is an excellent case that you can pick either cool or quiet on a whim... Have modded plenty of cases with the side intake and blow-hole exhaust, takes a lot of time and hassle, you can do in about a minute lol

Enjoy!

Hey guys noticed when i put my ear to the cpu on the back of the motherboard there is sort of like a hard drive disk sound coming from it, i dont have a hdd so its not that is it normal for a cpu to make abit of noise?

it has nothign to do with a mechanical drive but the billions of electrical switches it has. Also soem sort of coil whine sound is also absolutly normal.

Ok, well i dont have an hard drive, only ssd now. But yeah i just seem to hear a sort of high pitch scratch every second. I cannot hear it at all only if i put my ear to the case when it is open

thats what I said... The CPU has bilions of electrical switches and produces soudns byitself which is absolutly normal. Your GPU btw too.

Yeah thought i had fount a fix but it seemed to put my cpu to 100% all the time, im guessing the sound only comes at idle with the cpu so i doubt its the gpu.
