On AMD Ryzen this will mean you lose a good chunk of cpu performance.
It doesn't affect Intel as much but does affect nonetheless.

That would be correct. If you have anything not Ryzen, feel free to buy the 1x8GB. You'll only notice a difference in memory specific benchmarks. It's inconsequential for real world home applications, because there's a ton of slower stuff dragging you down anyway.
yes but obviosly you dont have to take flex mode youc an use dual channel by simply but the 1x8GB in one channel and the 2x4GB in the other channel. Then both channels have the same ammount and you run in dual channel just fine.
