CPU_PWR1 & CPU_PWR2
Just bought an MSI z390 carbon pro motherboard that has CPU_PWR1 and CPU_PWR2 connectors.

CPU_PWR1 = 8 pin
CPU_PWR2 = 4 pin

However, my PSU only has one 8 pin connector. Does the 4 pin absolutely have to be connected as well or will just the 8 pin do?

If the 4 pin isn't required for normal operation, would I need it if i wanted to overclock an 8700k to 4.9/5.0GHz at 1.3-1.35v?

It should work fine with only the 4+4pin.
