Is my desktop pc specs enough?

Not very familiar with how good or bad the specs are so if anyone can tell me what you think and if I should upgrade anything?

GTx 1080ti Founders Edition
Ripjaws 16gb, 2x 8gb ddr4 2400
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard
Evga 750w G2 power supply

What? No, I am new to pc and want to aim for 1440p 60+fps in most games.

I dont think my cpu is that great and if I were to upgrade to i7 would I need a new motherboard and power supply etc? Or is it just able to do 6th gen?

4 cores 4 threads is starting to hold things back like on Battlefield 5.
As for whatever you play at graphics settings and resolutions where that matter I don't know. But the CPU is starting to become a bit of a problem but it's by no means terrible.

It’s very good motherboard. Maybe change to 6700k i7 if you find it cheap. Then you can get 90 fps on high settings. It goes only with kaby lake. You find on their homepage the manual for your motherboard.

i3 7350K - 2C 4T - 56 (26) fps average (low)
i3 8350K - 4C 4T - 82 (52) <-- massive increase by having 4 cores.
i5 8400 - 6C 6T, -135 (77) <-- another massive increase by having 6 cores.
i7 8700K - 6C 12T - 148 (93) <-- bit better with more hyper-threading.
i7 9700K - 8C 8T - 149 (93)
i9 9900K - 8C 16T - 151 (94)

Hard to know if the later models are GPU limited, but 6600K is like the 8350K at best so compared to say 9600K that's 82 vs 147 fps average and 52 vs 90 fps low, so quite a bit difference for 2 more cores.

AMD camp:
Ryzen 3 2200G - 4C 4T - 68 (44) beats i3 7350K quite a bit.
Ryzen 3 2400G - 4C 8T - 79 (51)
Ryzen 5 2600X - 6C 12T - 109 (70) so definitely better than i3 8350K/i5 6600K but slower than i5 8400.
Ryzen 7 2700X - 8C 16T - 128 (82) quite a bit faster than the 2600X but i5 8400 and i7 7700K and up beats it.

With higher resolution and slower graphics cards frame-rates may drop because of graphics card not keeping up.

Here you can see that the i5 9600K (6C 6T) stutter in Far Cry 5 whereas the i7 8700K (6C 12T) doesn't. So to avoid that in that game you need the hyper-threading or the 8 cores of the i9 9700K or i9 9900K.

I assume the i7 6700K may hold its value quite well so far and once it doesn't then it's too bad. Battlefield V is a worst case scenario kinda but you could easily get a 8 core Ryzen 3000-series chip once released or whatever if you feel you need more (assuming it catches up with Intel in gaming. Of course there's always the chance that say in Far Cry 5 maybe average and low average fps are lower on the Ryzen but those stutter spikes on the i5 9600K wouldn't happen on a Ryzen with more cores and threads - I don't know!)

Actually at 06:30 there you can see:
Farcry 5 1080p Normal 2080Ti:
i5 9600K @ 5.2 GHz: 151.6 fps average, 70.5 fps 1% low, 18.8 fps 0.1% low.
i5 9600K @ stock: 139.0 fps average, 91.2 fps 1% low, 58.7 fps 0.1% low (inconsistent test because better lows?)
Ryzen 5 2600 @ 4.2 GHz: 112.1 fps low, 86.8 fps 1% low, 74.2 fps 0.1% low.
Ryzen 7 2700 @ 4.2 GHz: 111.0 fps low, 89.9 fps 1% low, 81.5 fps 0.1% low.
So clearly the Ryzens do have lower average fps but better lows so less stutter because of more threads and cores.

Your CPU cooler isn't powerful enough for that CPU, but besides that it's just fine.

That's an entry-level Z170. It's average-ish. And OP's current build should get a lot more than 90 FPS, a 1080Ti should see well over 100. Maybe even over 200 in some games.

All of the parts are good quality and it's in great condition for it's age. But. I would swap to a bigger CPU cooler, the radiator is too small and 140 fans don't always work well as rad fans. I would get a 240 cooler, another Corsair Hydro if possible.

Z170 is still good for gaming for now. No need to waste your money for upgrade every gen unless you starting to noticed it is slower for new game. That is how I saved a lot of money. I have very expensive computer and theater system.

Cpu cooler should be fine for the lil 6600k, it's only a quad core after all, I had a corsair h50 cooling a I5 3570k at 4.2 or 4.4GHz for years (been so long since I looked at it I cannot remember) even survived a Spanish summer, so he should be OK on cooling, but he needs to overclock it not to be holding the 1080ti back quite a lot.

Hot during summer can actual make problem for some boards. It is lead free that can getting crack and failing due to exceed hot. Last time I remember that the stock clock CPU does not holding back the 1080ti a lot.
