If you do use it update your BIOS early my MSI B350 board had issues if you turned game boost on. I personally dont use it because of that.

I tried manually oc my cpu without using gameboost and my pc no longer displays an image on my monitor, so i gotta reset my cmos, but i didnt oc it more than what game boost did so i dont know what the issue was with that
I got my board like 7 months ago and havent touched my bios in terms of updating, do so scares me cause i dont want to ♥♥♥♥ it up beyond repair

Yeah you need to update it. Lots of udates for faster ram speeds and other benifits. Turning game boost on and off messed with my CPU voltages until I updated my bios.

I'm using a MSI X370 motherboard, I keep it off because when I turn it on the voltages were set pretty high and the fans curve was pretty aggressive. I think it clock my 1700 at 3.4Ghz when I could have just set manually set it to 3.7Ghz at 1.225V which was much lower voltage then what I saw when had it on. I don't remember the exact voltage when I had it on because I have had it off for while but I remember it being pretty high.

I would definately update your bios they have made a lot of good changes. My memory finally runs at the rated speed, and everything just seems more stable for the most part.

Are the updates for the b350m pro and the b350m the same?

Thanks for the help so far guys! Really appreciate it

You should be on your specific motherboard page on the msi website. It should show yours. Mine is a b350 gaming plus. I think they only had a couple b350 matx boards. If it's not your board don't use it!

Easy way to overclock it is set it to 3900 3.9GHz and set the VCore to 1.35. See if it boots and test it. I set a more aggressive fan profile in the BIOS when I was using the supplied air cooler on my 1600. Also whats your RAM and what speed is it rated? Set that manually in the BIOS and you've got a quick overclock to test out. You almost always have to bump RAM voltage up to get the rated speed (1.40v).
