Windows 10 how to force reconnection of wifi?
For whatever reason my wifi disconnects from time to time for no real reason, but it doesn't restart. I either have to go into the little arrow and click on the wifi bars, and click connect, or unplug and plug in my adapter. I've clicked "Automatically connect" on this option multiple times but nothing. Is there somewhere else or other way I can force it to reconnect without me having to manually do this each time?

Control Panel > Device manager

Find 'Network adapters' on the tree list and double click to expand.

Find your wifi network adapter under it. Right click upon it and select Properties.

In the dialog that appears, click on the Power management tab to navigate to it.

Uncheck the "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power".

Click on OK, exit back out and reboot.

If still no luck...

(If you have your wifi password handy)

Click on the WiFi icon in the Windows taskbar.

Click on Network Settings

Under the Wireless Network Connection section, choose Manage Wi-Fi Settings. Then from under Manage Known Networks, Click the name of your wireless network and choose Forget.

Restart your computer. Click on the WiFi icon in the taskbar and click on your WiFi network from the list of available networks.

Make sure that you check the Connect automatically. Click on Connect.

Enter the security code for the network. Once your computer connects to the network, its memory should be refreshed and it should connect to the network automatically even after shutdowns and restarts.

(advanced only)

Else if you have a LAN (ethernet) connection also connected, Windows 10 by default doesn't automatically re-coonnect to the Wifi. There's a registry edit hack available for this. However, if you are unsure about the Windows registry, I wouldn't advice changing it.

HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WcmSvc\GroupPolicy

Create new D-Word (32-bit) named: fMinimizeConnections

Reboot.

This policy allows you to connect automatically to wireless network, even with a LAN plugged in and works on both Windows 8/8.1 and 10.
