Question About DDR4 Ram For My Gaming Laptop
So my Dell Inspiron 7567 has 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz Single Rank. I'm looking to getting another 8GB Of Ram. Can I mix match different ram brands and Ranks or no?

Yes, highest voltage and timings and lowest Frequency of both will apply.

Actually I have DDR4, does it still apply?

Yes.

The short answer is this. Get DDR4-2400 SODIMM/Laptop RAM. If you have a really thin laptop, chances are you’re going to already have the 8GB’s onboard. Just make absolutely sure how many SODIMM expansion slots your laptop has before buying a kit.

Theres a ram that is Dual Rank everything the same but its cheaper than the single rank. Can I still put it in or I have to get both the same ranks?

Dual ranks of single ranks RAM totally unimportant since decades. It only means that either 1 or both sides of the PCB has mounted ram slots.

Also speed difference between dual or single rank is a myth. They are limited by the bandwidth which is the same for both.

Might get this https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B019FREJOQ?th=1

so I can get a ram that is dual rank and single rank right?

Dell RAM is usually Hynix or Samsung, Crucial RAM is all Micron, do not mix them.
Buy more RAM that matches the current RAM.
Or remove the old RAM and install all new matching RAM.
But in laptops such as this, if you can't OC in the BIOS, then RAM above 2400Mhz is meaningless and more costly for zero benefits in such systems.

Would work still. Haven't faced incompatibilities between different RAM brands since ages.

But why risk it, honestly, just plug and play with the same you already have.

Yeah, it COULD work, but it also couldn't work, and you would've spent that money for nothing.
Plus you'll have 2 mismatching RAM sticks, and that will just look ugly.

Because there is no risk... Despite you have a 14 day return.
That's Bzw what JEDEC is for, standardizing RAM so that they are all compatible with to each other. I have done many RAM test, mixing RAM in all categories without facing a single issue.

You don't see the RAM in your laptop...

Yeah you dont really see the ram so I'm good. So I can mix match the ranks in Ram?

Yes RAM is standardized. Compatibility issues to each others where fixed around 5-6 years ago.
