My pc is underperforming majorly
I have a decent pc I would say. I play games on it all the time and I recently bought a 2080 gtx graphics card. Me and my friends play Ark survival evolved and on that game I get horrible fps. I get around 50 fps and when there are a bunch of things on the screen at once, I get even worse fps. Now I know for a fact that my pc parts are not the problem here because my brother has the SAME pc except he has a 1070 gtx, which means I have a better graphics card. And he STILL out performs me with a constant 100 fps on the game. Its unbelievable. I have a friend and I have a better pc aswell but he gets 90 fps constant aswell! I have no idea what to do and this whole thing is seriously frustrating.

I have taken a User benchmark for my pc and these are the results. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/12296902

Maybe you hooked your monitor into your motherboard and not graphic card?
Washell Nov 23, 2018 @ 7:43am
What are (all) the temperatures under load?
Sapph Nov 23, 2018 @ 7:43am
At same resolution and exactly same settings?
If you haven't tweaked the settings, the game has set them to highest most likely while your brother has tweaked his to be lower.

Things to check -
- cpu temperatures
- bios in performance mode
- windows power settings
- nvidia control panel settings
- mobo has latest bios and drivers

Memory speed could be a minor issue as 2666 is seen as minimum for newer i7's. But it wouldn't halve performance.

Did you use ddu to delete any old graphic drivers completely and install rtx drivers?

Q1 is your CPU running at base clock?
Q2 what is the CPU temperature?
Q3 is your GTX 2080 running high temperatures?
Q4 what is your chassis temperature?

I did use DDU to reinstall and refresh drivers, I also have my monitor connected to my graphics card. As for the temperatures, how would I check that? Also, my brother can run his game at medium settings with constant 100 fps, and epic settings with 50 fps. I run my game at medium with constant 40-50 fps, if not lower, and as for epic settings for me, its awful.

Use HWInfo64 to check component performance such as temps, cpu frequencies, etc.

Something is clearly wrong when pretty much everything besides one HDD is not performing as expected.

2400 ram is running at 2133 (1066mhz), boot to bios and enable xmp profile for 2400 (1200mhz)

ok, i am considering what everyone is saying and afterwards, i will repost and give as much info as possible. thanks

I still have not found a solution and i have searched all over the internet for a few days now. Nothing has worked and I seriously do not know what to do. Keep in mind I have done every suggestion you guys have given me. Anything else that might work?

Have you tried testing different games and comparing it with their computers? Seems silly but you never know, it could be the games fault.

What GPU did you have before and did it perform as expected. If it did I would start suspecting that the GPU you purchased has an issue. One other thing to make sure of is that the power cords going to the GPU are plugged in

You built this PC yourself right? Try opening it up and reseating your 2080. Also, like others have suggested, this might be in part to thermals. Your 2080 could be underclocking itself if the temps get too high to make sure it doesn't fry itself. Use a program like MSI Afterburner, set it up to have the temps on the overlay, and play ARK. If the temps are pretty high (I'd say between 70-90C) then open the case and take a look. If the CPU is running hot, take off the cooler and reapply thermal paste. If it's the GPU, make sure the fans are getting good clearance for airflow. If cables are in the way, try doing a bit of cable management. Use the case holes on the back if it has it. And lastly, check the fans. See if they're all working.

If you've done all that and you're 2080 is still underperforming, it might be faulty. In which case, you might be able to RMA it.

Good luck!

This happens with pretty much all my games. I know for a fact that I am not getting the results in ALL my games that I should have. I have tested it on multiple games.

As for my previous GPU, I had a 1070 GTX, not the TI though. The same one my brother is using right now. My friend is using the 1070 TI though.
