yep it was unchecked
7/vista home basic have 8g limit
im running windows 10 64bit
What is Cpu Z?
memory tab shows total ram installed and current freq(speed/2)/timings
spd tab shows xmp/spd profiles for each dimm
ok , i got it ,do you just want a screenshot because i dont really know what im looking at anymore
:(
Just click on the Memory tab up top and look on the top left where it says "Size". Also can double check your memory speed where it says "DRAM frequency". Remember this is DDR so you have to double that number which should add up to the speed of RAM you bought. Also while you're here, make sure it says Dual under "Channel #"
All checks out, exept for one thing , under channel# it says single
OK, so your system is reading all 16GB of ram which is a good thing. When it says 'Single' that means that one of the sticks is probably in the wrong slot. It will work just fine as is, but ideally you'd want to be running the ram in dual channel mode. Think of it like each ram stick having it's own road to drive on, vs them both having to share the same road to the CPU. Right now they both have to share the same road.
Did you put this system together? If you look in at at the motherboard, you will probably have 4 ram slots, and 2 of them are filled right now. You might notice that 2 of the slots are one color, and the other 2 are a different color. This can be kinda confusing because there's no real standard for A and B channel ram slot colors. I've seen some that want you to use the same color for A and B, and some want you to use different colors for A and B.
You'd need to just pull up your motherboard manual, or download if you dont have it anymore, and look at the DIMM section for how the slots are configured. You will want one stick to be in the A channel, and the other to be in the B channel so they both have their own road to the CPU.
Ah, my mother board only seems to have two slots? but yeah ill definatley take a look at the manual
Oh. I guess I need to look up your board. If you have 2 slots then that's all you have. Your board must only support single channel.
Actually, I take that back... Your board should support dual channel. I got your manual here

Section 1.4
Looks like one slot is A channel, the other is B.
They are using ASUS A68HM Plus according to the OP.
Maybe there's some kinda setting in the BIOS to switch between single and dual channel memory? I'm kinda at a loss as to why it would be running in single.
