60 fps not smooth in 144hz g-sync monitor
Hey guys, I bought a 144hz and 1440p monitor with G-Sync, I love play CSGO or games with +144fps like Fifa but there are games like Fallout 4 that I can't get 144fps in 1440p so I tried to lock it in 60 or 72 fps but isn't smooth, there is no tearing I think but is so unpleasant, looks like 30 fps, I don't know how to explain it but is not smooth. These are my Nvidia Control Panel settings:

My settings are:
I7-8700k
GTX 1080 ti
16GB Ram.

Please I don't care if I have to lock fps in 60 or 72 fps but I need to know why is not smooth...

Be sure that Gsync is enabled and operating on the monitor end. I recommend letting the 3D application decide settings as well.

Why would you lock in a FPS when you have gsync, just let gsync do its work

Because when I am playing a game between 80 to 60 fps that change is no smooth so if I lock would be better but still not smooth :(

For some games, it helps if you manually lower the refreshrate to 60, even if your display supports higher frequencies.
I tried that but its still the same

what fps are you getting in those games?

gsync will force the monitor to refresh when each frame is ready
if the gpu is taking different ammounts of time to draw each frame it will not look smooth

In Fifa or CSGO +144fps but Fallout 4 for example 100fps but can go down to 60-70 fps in some areas or AC: Origins.

What are you using to limit the FPS?

Did you try this for your GPU?

I think no, I'll try this now, thanks.

Edit- Looks like I mis-remembered and G-Sync is done over DP1.2

Did you enable Fast Sync for those games using the Nvidia Control Pannel?

NVIDIA usually recommends using some form of VSYC while GSync is active. Your best bet is to use Fast Sync in combination with GSync.

Not a problem. Just keep in mind that such stuttering is a common thing in Bethesda’s Creation Engine. FO4, FnV, and Skyrim SE all use it.

The micro stutter may actually be the game engine itself. I can’t remember how to fix it off the top of my head (something to do with cell distance in the INI file), but I can tell you it has to do with cells loading and unloading from memory at super short distances.

fast sync dosent work like that
it forces the gpu to always render frames and just display the latest one when the monitor is ready

only good for when you are getting fps over twice the monitors refresh rate and do not want tearing and to get the latest possible frame displayed
