It's not like the game is demanding, i've played it back on a singlecore CPU and a Geforce 6800GT back when it was released.
Try this:
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Last_Remnant#Vertical_sync_.28Vsync.29
OK I did what is said for VSync and indeed it was not activated. But it has not changed the situation. The only difference is that instead of jumping right from 30 to 1847, it makes a halt at 1654 and then get crazy eventually. I checked if VSync was correctly enabled in Nvidia pannel and yes it is. Well it's not like I need to play that game in particular but it's a shame I can't and I have the same problem with a smaller game like Aarklash Legacy and I had the same problem on my last machine at home so I just can't figure it out... That said, At home I've got an Ati for a GPU and it's as noisy as a Gigantic Engine room at full speed...maybe not that much though :-) thanks anyway !
SOLVED !
I found an old conversation here on Steam from 2013 and another one from 2015. Both suggested this and it worked : if you owe an Nvidia, open the Nvidia panel nd instead of setting general 3D parameters, I had to select the program (in this case The Last Remnant) and force V Sync by selecting "Activate" (and not anything else, just "Activate")... Ouf :-P
I would like to thank everyone of you who answered me kindly and advised me. I keep in mind the Thermo Pasta for when the laptop will be out of warranty and cleaning it anytime soon.
Let's try if Ni No kuni II will run smoothly with the same setting...and Aarklash too (for what it's worth I can't say)
Ok so With Ni No Kuni 2 it's the same : no craziness in the FPS by forcing V Sync. Now I need to find a good solution for cooling the lap top and I don't think my cooling pad will suffice but I'll run some tests and see what I can do...If you guys have any idea for this...
That said, if the VSync corrected my main problem, I see that the gpu climbs to 5GHZ in game, is that normal ? The temps is only 64 by the way so it's a relief instead of crazy 87 and 1700 ps (constant 60 now)
For those who might be interested, I edit my first post for every game I had some issues with so just in case there is one you have problems with if I can help I'l gladly do so :-)
Sorry to multi-post here but I've got a quick question though :
Can someone explain me why my GPU has to jump to 5ghz instead of 500 mhz or less while downloading a game for example. It happens that just now it has increased to 2999 then 5000mhz then climbed down then up again like a yo yo...Is it a way to ask me for a vacation ? :-)
You're looking at the Memory clock. Whenever gpu is under any load, the memory will jump to 10000 (2x 5000 because DDR, which stands for Double Data Rate, makes the effective speed 2 times the shown amount)
What you should look at, is the Core Clock.
I was playing Alien Asiolation, I know the game does go hot with such a game but now...well no more Alien for this Razer....I think I'm off to undervolt it or at least avoid that game on this laptop... :-(
(For the CPU)
@Aura : thanks for the lin, I'll check that :-)
Again, I thank all of you for answering me, now I'll get to work and come back when I have figured out something. Now, I'll have to buy some stuff ;-)
If I have to replace the thermo pasta, is there a trademark particularilly good in the market ?
