Anyone have experience with sata power splitters?
This?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/6Gbps-Cable-Power-Splitter-Drive/dp/B07BVW5GQC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1533432418&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=sata+power+splitter&psc=1

Reason I ask is that I have space in my case for more drives, and loose connectors on the sata power cables, but there is no way I can work it so that I can get all of them lined up with the drives bays due to the layout of the case and the cable not fitting around it.

this may solve my problem, but I might be misinformed as to how it works.

Your actual SATA power cables don't work differently. So yeah, not much of a difference.

Could also split the SATA power cable itself:

Or use extension cables for the power cable.
yes.... but i only use sata power cable splitter on hdds not a mixture of hdd and dvd drive, as someone told me.

You shouldn't even be using any 4-pin Molex; your PSU should have plenty of SATA Power already, otherwise it should be ditched for a decent PSU.

I have a evga supernova 550 g2 modular psu. it has 2 slots for 2 sata power cables each power cable has 3 connectors on it.

my problem is this; even though there is a free connector on the power cable I am using, its not possible due to the layout of the drive bays to line up all 3 connectors so that I can connect 3 drives with no additional cables.

its also impossible to also connect an optical drive to that same cable due to the power connector on the drive being nowhere near where the disk drive bays are.

so its either clutter the case up with another sata power cable to purely connect the optical drive, or get a splitter, and turn the free connector on my current cable into 2, and then use 1 end of the splitter to connect the 3rd disk drive and then attach a sata extension to the other end of the splitter and feed that to the optical drive's power connector. Assuming its safe

this is the product I intend to buy:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/STARTECH-COM-StarTech-Power-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B002N2EHVQ

doesn't mention anything about a molex.

The first product you had in your topic is a molex splitter.

The one i provided you, and you linked again, is a SATA power connector splitter.
Just get the latter.
