Amd fx 6300 upgrade to amd fx 8370?

Hi Guys, I'm playing lots of games and planning to upgrade my current cpu (amd fx 6300) to amd fx 8370. My game crashes a lot in ark, this is my system: Amd fx 6300, 8gb DDR3, Amd radeon r9 280x. So my question is, should I get less crashes? At this moment I don't have the money to switch to Intel, so will it be worth for the crashes ?

Well, cpu change won't help you there.

What is your power supply? It could be caused by it having gone bad.

what board do you have and how are the fans around the cpu area?

Cooling is not the problem. The temps are good, I've got a lot of fans

not the cpu cooling, but the vrm cooling

While I'm playing the screen freezes and sometimes I get a crash like lowfatalerror and failed to create 3d device. I can play the game on high but if I want that the game doesn't crash, I need to set resolution scale to 0% from 100% (bad quality, but it doesn't crash)

A couple suggestions:
1) put settings on low and add to them one at a time. Keep AA off or lowest and don't touch it until everything else is turned up.
2) put the gpu in your bro's machine and see how it does.

I upgraded my daughter's 6300 to a R3 1200 and her 290x runs a lot better with fortnite, the 6300 is getting long in the tooth.

Run Furmark if it freezes with that then it's more likely the R9 280x has gone belly up.

The reality is most of the R9 280x's got cruddy vram, I also have a Visiontech 280x that I got around to diagnosing as faulty as in freezing / error even when trying to watch netflix.


Your PC should not freeze and buying an FX8350 won't fix the problem if you don't know which softeware or hardware is faulty, so like others have said start running the general tests ie Furmark/P95/Memtest86/HDDTune.


If it is the R9 280x being the problem a GTX1060 would still be good with your FX6300.


Clean out GPU drivers with DDU and reinstall if those got messed with the last update.

Ps ^^^, it's common knowledge that AMD gpus run lack luster with FX cpus vs nvidia gpus + FX cpus.

I would suggest looking in your Windows Event Viewer and see what causes the crash, or at least what was running at the time of the crash.
It could give you a clue weather it's hardware or software related.

So after vacation, I'm gonna sell my fx 6300, my motherboard and my 8gb ram. After that I'm gonna buy 8gb ddr4 ram, A ryzen and a motherboard
