Triple monitor issues
I have a MSI 1080ti gpu and just purchased 3x32" monitors. On my gpu i have 2 displayports and 2 hdmi ports. I currently have 2 monitors connected via display ports and 1 connected via hdmi. Problem is its only giving me a 60hz option in surround. Just wondering that being that one monitor is connected via hdmi it is limiting all monitors to 60hz. Do i need to purchase a different gpu with at least 3 display ports in order to get a higher refresh rate.

Yes. Why didn't you buy one with 3x DP in the first place?

I originally built my pc for vr and single screen racing games. But seeing as how a family member gets sick racing in vr I decided to purchase two additional screens. I just assumed that with arguably the best msi gpu at the time, that it would come with extra display port inputs.

Wondering if HDMI 2.0 would work in this case? I admit its just a thought, have no clue.

You will need an active displayport hub. To take a single displayport interface and split it 3 ways.
Something similar to this.

What is the resolution of each monitor? But this will still only allow to reach 60Hz but it depends on what resolution you are running.
Displayport 1.4 standard

5120×2880 @ 60Hz (with HDR)
(7680×4320) @ 60Hz (Without HDR)

you probably have a game locking your framerate to the vertical of one of the monitors.. also, HDMI is limited, i know for my 165hz monitor to work correctly it needs to be connected via displayport

Thank you for all your feedback. I got a hold of someone from Nvidia. They said that when in surround mode, the refresh rate locks to the lowest refresh across any monitors that are available. Looks like i will be upgrading to a 2080ti.

how is that going to solve the problem? and 2080tis are overrated

How so? And it will fix the problem, a 2080ti will have 3x DP.

do all your monitors have the capability of going above 60hz? Also, consider Radeon VIIs, they're about 75%+ of the performance of a 2080TI and cost about $600 less. If you really want to spend the $1100 or so you can get two of them and stomp a 2080TI for the same price.

Yes, OP has the same 3 monitors. It's just his GPU only supports 2x DP and the third is on 60hz HDMI.

2070S is cheaper than the VII and has more performance.
Komrade Dec 12, 2019 @ 2:46pm
There's a reason why no one uses Radeon VII's.
Ulfrinn Dec 12, 2019 @ 3:05pm
Actually the 2070 and the VII are roughly the same performance at about the same price. Further highlighting the fact that 2080TIs are overpriced and overhyped.

Nope, 2080 is faster.
