Corsair fans hd120 too loud (high RPM)
Basically, my new case came with these fans + the lighting node pro. But the fans are so damn loud, it sounds like I'm sitting in a tornado storm. I know I need to have the commander pro to be able to change the fanspeeds (which is BS). But is there any other way to reduce fanspeed? (I'm considering switching out the hd120's with my old sharkoon rex8 case's fans, which are much quieter.)

if connected to motherboard, you can change speed through motherboard software.

through the bios?
yeah, if a fan is connected to a header on the motherboard you should be able to adjust through bios.

or software from motherboard manufacturer. for example, asus has ai suite with fan xpert. click on fan xpert and you can control the speed of any fan.

tried to use the bios to change it, but nothing happened. might be my old motherboard not being compatible with the fans? the fans are running at 100% all the time :(
As long as you plug them into a 4pin header there shouldn't be any issue and it would need to be a very old board to lack those.

Failing that, you could run them through a fan controller, the commander as you mentioned or get some resistors to slow them down lie these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NA-SRC7-fan-power-adapter/dp/B00KG3KP1U/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_23_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=B05THQHKPCBVFAYK0XWV (which I have used on a past build), the hd120 fans aren't the quietest at full speed that's for sure, but they are very effective, I have 11 of them in my main rig lol.

asrock 980de3/u3s3 is my motherboard, it does have 4 pin connectors. But when i change the fan speed in bios it doesn't change anything.
Not sure then, I use fan controllers myself or the power adapters myself, might be the best fix and they are pretty cheap, or,put up with it, while they aren't quiet at full tilt, they aren't that loud either really, and I have mine blowing through 45mm radiators which increases the noise considerably.

I agree, but when comparing the new ones with my old cheap fans, they are super loud. (which is pathetic, really)

Do you maybe know the name of the controller/have a link?

While louder I'll bet they push a hell of alot more air also, there are dozens of fan controllers I used a pair of nzxt sentry mix 2's https://www.nzxt.com/products/sentry-mix-2 which have alot of power per channel (most seem to be 15-20w) however, they only drop down to 40% fan speed at the lowest setting, which is fine for me as I can't hear it over my headphones and I usually run them at 100% anyway to keep temps as low as possible, but if you are bothered about noise and don't need to run 6 fans off the one hub and have it flush fit, there are probably better options.
Decided to just hook off the back fan (which was the loudest of the 2 hd120's). The one in front doesn't make any noise at all, even though it's at full speed all the time. My old cpu cooler is now the loudest fan in the case. Looks a bit weird having 1 fan off, but i guess this works for now.
It can depend on the fan header too. I avoid using PWR_FAN fan header with any fan that is capable of RPMs above around 1000-1200 or so.

Best bet is probably using a Fan Controller type of addon, then just manually control them.
Then run a hefty CPU + GPU stress test to heat up everything and get an idea of where it would help to better configure your fans via the fan controller. Once they are setup for better airflow, leave them there.

The back fan was indeed connected to the PWR_FAN connection. Will check later if my motherboard has another chassis fan connection. This might be the solution.
