Should I keep my laptop power cord plugged in while I game
Bought my first pc Laptop yesterday
Specs:
Dell G7
15.6" display
Intel Core i7 8th gen
GTX 1060
16 GB RAM
128 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD
56WH battery

Yes, because laptops will run the parts at full performance when plugged.

i would keep it plugged in while gaming.. atleast that way the components are getting reliable clean power when under load. also having it plugged in will most often put the laptop into performance mode and disable most if not all power saving features unless otherwise specified in settings.

Yes you'll get get better proformance plugged in, but if it is plugged in 24/7 staying at 100% all the time that can hurt the life of the laptop's battery. Let it drain down to about 30% ever so often to put less stress on the battery's cells.

the gpu especially will throttle something fierce on battery

This, it must be plugged in is non-sense. Not all Laptops are that way.

Simply test it both ways, run a benchmark while on power, then while on battery.
If the CPU/GPU throttle into power saving mode without options to change it, you'll know fairly quick.

But yes it is best to Game on Wall Power; and with Power Options in Windows set to High Performance. You might be able to get away with it on Battery, but do not expect very much battery run-time while doing it.
