Windows 7 with USB 3.0
I upgraded my pc and now I have only USB 3.0 or higher. My mouse and keyboard are working in the bios but not, when windows 7 has started. What can I do? I got an old keyboard with another connection, that works.

I already got windows 7 installed, cause I'm using the memory of my old pc
The thing is you have installed windows 7 on a PC with no USB 2 ports and unless you have a bluetooth adapter and mouse you no input control as you can't use a USB mouse without USB 3 windows 7 drivers.

So you either need a bluetooth mouse & controller or you need to follow the instructions from that link.

USB 2.0 devices work perfectly fine on USB 3.0 ports. There shouldn’t be any compatibility issues whatsoever.

What are the current specifications of your new PC? Chances are there are going to be compatibility issues with Windows 7 in general on it if it uses a Skylake Intel processsor or newer.

Windows 7 does not install USB 3 drivers, as such you either have to install them afterwards, or modify an install disc/stick to add them in if the system does not have any USB 2 ports.

Some motherbaords have a bios setting to enable USB legacy mode which would work.... and there should be some USB 2.0 headders on the board that you could hook up some PCI bracket ports to.

Kind of hard to do when you cannot use a keyboard and mouse to install the drivers. OP upgrades to a new PC with USB 3.0. Said PC should be able to run Windows 10 perfectly fine, if not better, than Windows 7.

@OP:
You should probably get ahold of a legit copy of Windows 10. You can install it without activating it, and then activate it later when you can afford to buy a legit product key.

Any PC "repair" shop worth its salt should be able to sell the OP a USB 2 motherboard headder cable for a couple of bucks, just hook it up untill the driver is installed and job done, with any luck there might be a USB legacy setting in bios.

You don’t quite understand that a simpler solution is to just use Windows 10.

Let me put this another way, If the OP has a Coffeelake or Ryzen gen 2 processor, neither of those CPU’s are fully compatible with Windows 7, and Windows 7 will malfunction using them and not have the best possible performance out of them like they would under Windows 10.

If the OP installs Windows 10, it’s easier to get everything working without adding more ports to the new PC.

It is very likely the OP merely transferred the hard disk drive from his old PC to the new one. In which case the issues they described are going to be present.....even with legacy mode enabled.

If you get Win10 you can still activate it using your old win7 keys - so if I were you I would recover your existing win7 keys[www.howtogeek.com] then use it to clean install windows 10[petermeinl.wordpress.com] then activate it using your win7 key[answers.microsoft.com].

So just ensure you select the correct version of win10 (e.g. win10 home if you currently have win7 home etc).

I didn’t know if that offer was still available.

It's not supposed to be, however I guess MS decided not want to take that feature out of the activation servers for whatever reason. Too much $ to invest in coding changes perhaps?

I guess so. The only problem in doing that is that once you use your Windows 7 key to upgrade to Windows 10, but later decide to transfer that to a new PC, you have to buy a Windows 10 product key.

If they buy a Windows 10 product key for the upgrade, they can transfer that activation to any other PC they may upgrade to in the future.

No you don't, we've done this here many times.

Plus you never need any Win10 keys anyways, just install it.

True, simply installing Windows 10 without a product key will be fine until the OP can afford to activate Windows 10.
