EDIT:
Wildlands is actually more demanding than I thought at Max.
But it can still do above 60fps at 1440p when you disable Anti-ALiasing which is unneeded at 1440p kind of resolution.
And having a 144hz monitor for games which you can run is good + for the future in general.
Good luck with that
Level detail and shadows maxed at ultra really hit performance hard.
Except your fps to go down even 2x gtx 1080 ti sli can hold up 1440P Max barely can 60 fps
1440p @ 144-165Hz
8700K + 16GB RAM + SSD + GTX 1080 Ti + Win10 64bit
It's well optimised actually else it wouldn't even run at 30fps, demanding and u optimised are very different things, there is nothing that can be done to keep the crazy detail and range along with dropping requirements, that is what the options are there for, needing a crazy powerful system to max out a crazy detailed game is not a sign it is badly optimised.
Are you sure your 7700K isn't thermal throttling? The game quite easily nearly maxes out the 7700K's 4 cores and 8 threads.
And if you were to thermal throttle, it would do what you have described.
