HWMonitor 1.37 infected?

So i just booted up my PC for the first time in 21 days and i got a notice of an update for HWMonitor from CPUID of version 1.37 while i am running 1.36 and open trying to open it, it says
"unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 5, access denied."
and following that avast antivirus pops says that they moved it to the virus chest because it is infected with filerepmalware.

I am wondering how true this is because i use this program frequently to monitor temps in my PC and never had this happen before.

Where did you download it from? If it was from the official CPUID site, then it's probably just a false positive from Avast. HWMonitor is a trustworthy program - I use it all the time.

I only download the program from the official CPUID site. The problem is that every time i open it to update it, it gives me the above message before avast pops up so i don't know how to by pass this.

I don't use Avast, so I can't give you specific steps to follow, but there should be a way to ignore or exclude certain programs if they're triggering false positives. You could always try temporarily disabling Avast when you update HWMonitor, then re-enabling it again afterwards.

I'll try that and report back as to what happens but i am surprised that this issue came up as I always download HWMonitor only from CPUID and never had this come up.

thing is i don't use avast forums, i may just stick with the current version of hwmonitor i have installed. Really ccleaner? I use that program too and never had an issue pop up telling me its infected but then again i usually don't update it right away so who knows.

Just ignore it, it's most likely a false positive.

Besides ignoring it just disable HWmonitor from checking for updates every time it loads. I'm still on 1.34 and see no point in updating as nothing in the new versions notes detail changes that would benefit my system.

Basically not everything needs updating just because a new version is available. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
