A 10 year old CPU at 3,5 Ghz will be WAY slower then a modern one with 2,5.
Look at the required CPU for the game you want to play, then compare it with your own.
If your CPU is much older its possible you could run into problems running the game.
If its as new or newer then the one mentioned you wont have any problems, even with 100mhz less clock speed.
All else being equal trhe only real difference between an older and newer cpu is the power consumption.
In your case Op you just have to make sure your i5 is a quad not a dual.
First gen (6xx) i5's were dual.
Most mobile i5's have been dual up until... skylake? when they finally switched to quad.

Thats an i3. I wrote that i3 are dual core. So what is your problem here?
It does, but if your CPU isnt't fast enough to feed the GPU then you'll get bad framerates anyway.
It would help if the OP would post what model CPU he/she actually has.
they will not have a dedicated gpu and its gma is not strong enough for anything 3d
You also need to consider these:
- Amount of cores
- age of the cpu
- what architecture the cpu is (this is one of the harder things for regular user to know, so the answer can only be found through research)
what vid card do you have in a computer like that..
