If I have a Play & Charge Kit can I use it to connect a wireless controller to windows PC without a reciever?
As the title suggests I have a wireless Xbox 360 controller and a Play and Charge Kit that I borrowed from one of my friends but I don't own a reciever can I use the kit as a way to connect the controller to my windows 10 pc?

No, The kit is only for charging the controller.

Nope. That is for charging only. It does not establish a data connection. Only between the PC and the battery, not the controller.

So, is there's a way to connect it with out the receiver? Since I live in Egypt and neither the original or a knock-off receiver is available.

no

x360 play & charge kit only charges a wireless controller
you still need a ms x360 reciever to connect the controller to a pc

looks like there are knock-offs available for you here[uae.souq.com], the genuine kit is unfortunately no where to be found.

That's in United Arab Emirates not Egypt :(

BTW is the wired version the same as the wireless version in terms of material, durability and features?

Pretty much. But if you think about getting a new one, get the XBox One controller instead, it's way better than the 360 one.

The problem is that the only real store I could find selling an original one is Game Valley and the controller is for 1250 EGP which is quite a lot for me, also it's wireless and I couldn't seem to find anyone who sells a wired version.

And if I'm going to get a wireless less one will it work without extra stuff?

I have just found a deal on souq.com that offered a wired Xbox 360 controller for 216 EGP (~12$) and I ordered one.

Microsoft only sells wireless XBox One controllers. BUT, you can easily use an USB -> Micro-USB cable to connect it to your PC, without the need for batteries or a receiver.

Oh, that's interesting, will they deliver it to Egypt it I order one?

And thanks for that USB piece of info.

do not get a knockoff x360 receiver
most have issues with windows

a genuine ms x360 reciever is aroudn $15-20 from amazon

or you can get the x360 controller kit for windows (includes a ms receiver) for around $50

I would not advise ever using Play & Charge on the 360; just use good quality standard AA batteries, such as Duracell or Energizer; avoid generics like Kirkland, which are junk. they last months worth of playing. Get used to how you unclip the battery pack to turn off the Controller. If game has length in-game videos and such, turn the controller off during this to help save battery. With them being wireless, its ok to turn it on/off during gameplay, as the wireless receiver keeps the controllers OS device alive; unlike if you were to be plugging/unplugging a wired controller during gameplay.
