CPU Z Showing Wrong RAM speed
So I have 2*8GB Dual Channel ddr4 2400mhz ram and when i check on CPU Z to be sure everything is right in shows in the DRAM section 931.1 MHZ. now i know you are supposed to multiply it by 2 but 1862 doesnt come close to 2400. I asked my friend which has 2*8gb 2400mhz ram too and he told me his DRAM is 1200.....what could be the problem ? Everywhere else on my pc and command prompt it is writted that i have 2400mhz

specs :
gigabyte b360 hd3 lga1151v2
i7 8700k 3.70 ghz 12mb cache s1151v2 tray
antec neo eco 620C 620W active pfc 12cm PSU
kingston hyper x fury 2*8GB DDR4 2400mhz DIMM memory
evga gtx 770 Superclocked acx cooler 2gb gddr5
artic cooling frezzer 12 CPU fan
(Ignore the 'K' in my CPU )

1893/2=946.5

Do you know the DDR RAM speed reference/name installed? For instance DDR4-2400 will have a clock frequency of 1200HMz
refrence\name ? where do i check it

in the timings table in cpu z sped section the frequency in all four columns is 1200mhz

Yeah, your ram is HX424C15FB/8 so supposed to run DDR4-2400 CL15-15-15 or DDR4-2133 CL14-14-14 out of the box without OC. And it runs as DDR4-1860) - 17-17-17 instead.

Your bios looks recent, and the mobo spec state it has support fot 2133/2400/2666 so it should work. Make sure the ram modules are inserted in the alternate slots. (you may try to put them in the other 2 slots)

Reset the bios to defaults. after restart look if it has the 2400 freq on the BIOS page. So at least we know if it is set to slower at bios level or overridden later.
Yea i can not imagine where in the hell or why the Motherboard is auto setting your RAM to something "odd ball" like 946-ish; that doesn't make any sense. Without XMP profile enabled it should default to 1067 (x2 = 2133)

And your Motherboard clearly supports RAM of 2400 and 2666 as per the specs-sheet

Maybe it just does not like those HyperX Fury. I tend to stick to Crucial / Corsair / GSkill and never had issues with Motherboards accepting them and running the profiles correctly.

EDIT:
Yes the OPs BIOS is updated to revision F11 which is the latest to-date

alternate slots ? you mean put the sticks in diffrent places ? like 1,3 and 2,4 ?

and bios page ? you mean he bios itself or the desktop application ?

They should already be installed to slots # 2 & 4 (going from left to right)
mine are in 1 and 3 acordding to cpu z ....shoud i switch to 2 4 ?
You can't really go by what CPU-Z says for Slot #
Look on your physical Motherboard; with slot closest to the CPU being Slot#1; your 2x RAM should be installed into slots 2 and 4
yeah checked and they are in slots 1 + 3.....reboot te pc with 2+4 and check ?
I would suggest that, yes.
Select Shutdown in Windows; once powered off turn off the Power Supply from the rear, then press and hold case power button for about 5 secs to fully discharge the motherboard caps. Then open the side panel and carefully switch the RAM into slots 2 & 4. Then power the pc back on and quickly enter the BIOS and confirm that the RAM amount and speed is correct.
the ram speed is correct in bios (2400mhz) the problem is that it is false according to cpu z and gigabyte app
screenshot the memory and also spd tabs in CPUZ
You can select a tab in the app, then press ALT+PrintScreen to capture ONLY that active window if you prefer to do so.

One important step checked then...

I'm sure cpu-z shows the correct values, you must have something in your system that overrides the bios-set figures as the OS starts. it may be that gigabyte app itself.
alright...checked slots 2 + 4
pc wont boot it goes into a loop unless i go back into 1 +3 (wont even go to bios screen )

actually i was wrong : bios shows me that dram is 1860 mhz which is what we see now
so the bios is not correct too
and second : i deleted the gigabyte application though i now know that it had nothing to do with changing the ram speed

Sounds bad. By spec the mobo is supposed to work rith 2 sticks in either 1-3 or 2-4.
A story thay might be related, about 1 month ago we bought an AM4 board. And 3 memory sticks that are possibly the same as yours. Will check next week, it looks the same and also 2400.

So, the board runs, we also noticed the ram speed is 1866. So flashed the bios to the newest, and no POST from there. With 3 sticks. Works fine with any 2. Or 4. never with 3. While by specs it should.

Just like the old bios new something about the ram, set it to slower speed and worked and the new trusts it blindly then fails to boot up.

If you're up to experiments and found where to set the target ram speed, may set it to some low value like 1600 instead of auto and see if that it allows start with the other slots. And if it does, increase it by step to see if how high you can get.

Maybe this specific ram just sucks with a selection of mobos. :-/
